Job summary

MAU Workforce Solutions is hiring an Electrical Engineer III in Lake Mary, FL to lead electrical power distribution and signal network design for auxiliary equipment in gas turbine projects. This full-time role requires ensuring technical accuracy, integration, and engineering execution.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years in industrial facility power distribution design and familiarity with NFPA 70, IEC, IEEE standards. Relocation may be offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of design experience in industrial energy distribution up to 600VAC/220VDC.
  • Familiarity with electrical codes and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design of electrical power distribution and signal networks for gas turbine projects.
  • Create detailed electrical drawings: single-line diagrams, schedules, load lists.
  • Perform calculations and sizing for MCCs, breakers, transformers, cables.
  • Maintain BOMs and assist with equipment purchase specs.
  • Review vendor documents for compliance and schedules.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams for project alignment.
  • Oversee work of electrical designers and mentor junior engineers.
  • Interface with parent company requirements and safety policies.

Job description

MAU is hiring an Electrical Engineer III for our client in Lake Mary, FL. As an Electrical Engineer III, you will lead the design of electrical power distribution and signal networks for auxiliary equipment supporting gas turbine projects while ensuring technical accuracy, project integration, and engineering execution. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of technical and/or practical experience in industrial facility power distribution design (up to 600VAC and 220VDC).
Preferred Education and Experience
  • 7+ years of technical and/or practical experience.
  • Knowledge of NEMA, IEC, IEEE, ISA, ANSI, NFPA 70E, UL, CSA, and other applicable codes and standards.
  • Experience with ETAP.
  • Expertise with SmartPlant Electrical.
  • Experience or expertise with SmartSketch.
  • Expertise with SmartPlant 3D (Electrical Module).
General Requirements
  • Strong familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) is required.
  • Working knowledge of electrical design for industrial facilities.
  • Ability to perform electrical calculations and equipment sizing.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to identify workflow bottlenecks and recommend process improvements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5%.
Essential Functions
  • Lead the design of electrical power distribution and signal networks for auxiliary equipment used in gas turbine projects.
  • Design low-voltage electrical systems operating at 600V and below, including MCCs, panelboards, low-voltage transformers, DC systems, and batteries.
  • Apply applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and engineering best practices throughout project execution.
  • Create detailed electrical drawings, including single-line diagrams, panelboard schedules, electrical load lists, motor lists, feeder schematics, master cable schedules, master termination schedules, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
  • Perform calculations and sizing for motor control centers, breakers, overloads, distribution transformers, cables, conduits, equipment spacing, and illumination levels.
  • Maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and complete additional electrical design activities based on project complexity.
  • Prepare equipment purchase specifications and assist with vendor selection for electrical packages.
  • Review vendor documentation and verify compliance with technical requirements and project schedules.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical alignment and successful integration of electrical systems into projects.
  • Oversee the work of electrical designers.
  • Interpret and incorporate engineering requirements from the parent company into project designs.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers through regular coaching and technical guidance.
  • Assist with managing engineering deliverable schedules while identifying and resolving potential project delays.
  • Participate in team initiatives that support departmental and company objectives.
  • Work with the electrical team to implement smart-tool standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify product designs to improve manufacturability and reduce costs without compromising quality or functionality.
  • Provide technical support during equipment manufacturing and commissioning.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, and report unsafe conditions to Management and/or Human Resources.
