Job summary

Amron, A Division of AMTEC Corp. is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead the plant’s move from relay logic to modern PLC controls and safety systems.

You will design, implement and install control programs for automated equipment and supervise integration with feed, discharge, and guarding devices. You will train in-house electricians and maintenance personnel to diagnose and repair automation systems more efficiently, and you will develop electrical drawings and ladder diagrams while

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • Experience with PLCs and automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead equipment control modernization from relay logic to PLCs.
  • Develop and install PLC programs for machines with safety devices.
  • Train maintenance staff to improve diagnostics and repairs.
  • Diagnose PLC-driven equipment and robotics (Allen-Bradley, Fanuc, Siemens).
  • Develop electrical drawings and ladder diagrams for plant equipment.
  • Collaborate with production, quality and engineering for improvements.
  • Evaluate systems and recommend safety, reliability, and performance enhancements.

Summary

Research, design, develop, test, or supervise the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Lead the plant in transitioning equipment controls from relay logic to PLC controls and safety systems.
  • Write, develop, design and install programs specific to control/run equipment with add on feed, discharge and safety devices and machine guarding.
  • Train in-house electricians and maintenance personnel on becoming more efficient in diagnostics and repairs of machine operating systems.
  • Lead the department in the diagnostics and problem solving of PLC driven equipment, automation and robotics to include Allen Bradley, Fanuc and Siemens drives and controls.
  • Design, control and installation of automated part moving and placement (feed) systems.
  • Work with production, quality and engineering on diagnostics and continuous improvement projects on product lines.
  • Evaluate equipment and systems and make recommendations for safety, reliability and performance improvements.
  • On a daily basis work with electrical and maintenance in diagnostics and the plants operating equipment to include conveyance, presses, CNC’S, Boilers, Air Compressors, Air moving and process equipment.
  • Develop diagnostics procedures for trouble shooting equipment.
  • Prepare specifications for electrical systems.
  • Develop electrical drawings and ladder diagrams for the plants equipment.
  • Evaluate current operating systems and recommend add on features such as indicator lights, alarms and/or devices specific to improve diagnostics.
  • Ability to work with operation and diagnostics relay logic operating systems.
  • Update, review and develop operating procedures.
  • Assist in yearly budgets.
  • Promote safety, good housekeeping ant emergency response procedures.

Education and/or Experience
  • Requires BS in Electrical Engineering or related field
Language Skills

Requires good oral and written communication skills in order to interact with other employees.

Mathematical Skills

Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and to make metric system conversions.

Reasoning Ability

Must have the ability to read and understand electrical schematics, electrical code manuals, routings and other manufacturing instructions. Must possess excellent problem solving skills.
