About the Role:

Join a small, dedicated team driving the design and end‑to‑end production of Planet’s cutting‑edge satellite constellation. This is your chance to own the process, from concept to flight, optimizing for medium‑scale mass production. If you are passionate about contributing technology to a mission that is actively monitoring and changing the world, and are excited by the idea of seeing your hardware launched into space aboard a rocket, this is the role for you. We are looking for an engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is ready to take our satellite designs to the next level.

This is a full‑time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our San Francisco office 3 days per week.

Impact You’ll Own:
  • Electrical design of analog, power, thermal and mixed signal subsystems from requirements through architecture and detailed design
  • Schematic capture, power/signal integrity simulations; guide and review layout design
  • Harness design including selection of components, signal definition, coordinating with mechanical engineering to define lengths, and generating fabrication drawings
  • Oversight of design validation and qualification campaigns including power / signal integrity, EMI / EMC, interoperability, etc.
  • Analog and mixed signal design including interfaces to thermal systems, sensors and actuators
  • Support for manufacturing and systems teams around electrical subsystem integration
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in taking designs from schematics to manufacturing
  • Experience with power, analog, and mixed signal PCB design
  • Experience with Altium tools for PCB design
  • Experience using lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters
  • Experience with embedded systems and peripheral interfaces (e.g., I2C, SPI, USB, CAN, Ethernet, etc.)
  • Ability to make decisions regarding design and implementation
What Makes You Stand Out:
  • Knowledge of High Speed Design and DC‑DC converters.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python

Compensation:

The US base salary range for this full‑time position at the commencement of employment is $144,500 – $180,600 USD. This role might be eligible for discretionary short‑term and long‑term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job‑related experience, skills and location.
