PBF Energy is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the Mechanical Integrity Department at the Paulsboro site. The role covers design, specification, and maintenance of electrical equipment across plant operations, with a focus on reliability strategies and guidance to internal customers.

Responsibilities include supporting electrical systems, relay coordination, and load flow studies, plus contributing to capital projects, procedures, and safety compliance in a refinery setting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of Industrial Electrical Power experience and a B.S. or higher Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of personnel at different levels of engineering, design, maintenance, and management and with internal customers as well as suppliers.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in both written and verbal form for the purpose of instructing others in technical matters and obtaining cooperation from various personnel.
  • Basic understanding of industrial electrical equipment, motors, motor starters, breakers, relay protection devices, transformers, and switchgear.
  • Working experience in production units and awareness of surroundings from a safety and environmental point of view.
  • Ability to use basic software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, etc.
  • Willingness to learn and use AutoCAD, and SKM load-flow & short-circuit programs as well as SEL Quickset.
  • Prefer professional experience within an oil refinery or petrochemical complex.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support for the maintenance, operation, and troubleshooting of the refinery’s electrical systems and equipment (including low, medium, and high voltage electrical equipment).
  • Investigates electrical equipment failures and recommends actions to enhance the system and equipment reliability.
  • Develops electrical system reliability improvement opportunities and participates in capital improvement, preventive maintenance, and repair strategies.
  • Updates and maintains electrical system relay coordination, short circuit studies, and load flow.
  • Provides technical support for front-end development, cost estimation, design, construction, and startup for projects and change packages.
  • Assists in the development of maintenance and operating procedures for electrical equipment.
  • Keeps abreast of electrical practices and industry standards (API, NFPA, NEC, IEEE, ASME, ANSI, ASCE).
  • Maintains knowledge of electrical area classifications and compliance for hazardous locations.

Electrical EngineerJOB SUMMARYThe Electrical Engineer, as part of the Mechanical Integrity Department, is responsible for specification, design, and maintenance of electrical equipment for all plant operations, including field installations. This individual will be responsible for developing maintenance and reliability strategies related to electrical equipment and for providing guidance to internal customers to maintain the reliability of the equipment. Duties will also include identifying and implementing electrical plant modifications (Switchgear, protective relays, MCC, UPSs, battery systems, etc.).PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIESProvides technical support for the maintenance, operation, and troubleshooting of the refinery’s electrical systems and equipment (including low, medium, and high voltage electrical equipment)Investigates electrical equipment failures and recommends actions to enhance the system and equipment reliabilityDevelops electrical system reliability improvement opportunities. This activity includes participation in development and execution of a strategy to improve plant electrical reliability. The compensation range listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law. Salaries at the time of hire are typically in the lower to middle portion of the above range in order to provide the opportunity to reflect future performance-based increases.
