Job Title: Control Systems EngineerJob Description

The Control Systems Engineer designs, develops, integrates, and implements electronic control systems and wiring harnesses for custom-engineered mobile products. This role collaborates closely with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to deliver reliable, efficient, and compliant control solutions. You will work hands-on with both hardware and software in a dynamic, project-driven environment, contributing directly to the performance and quality of complex mobile systems.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electronic control systems for custom-engineered mobile products, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance with applicable standards.

  • Create and refine schematic layouts for digital and analog circuits, including PCB and overall system-level circuit design.

  • Design wiring harnesses and associated electrical systems, including routing, connectivity, and integration with mechanical components.

  • Implement and oversee wiring for control systems, ensuring proper installation, functionality, and safety.

  • Program and develop control software for mobile systems using languages such as Python, C++, MATLAB, and AngelScript.

  • Integrate hardware and software components into complete control solutions, collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams.

  • Use tools such as AutoCAD and other engineering software to support electrical design, schematic creation, and documentation.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues in electrical circuits, wiring harnesses, and control software, using systematic problem-solving methods.

  • Support testing and validation activities on dedicated test boards and in the manufacturing environment to verify new designs and system performance.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of control system designs, wiring harness standards, and development processes across projects.

Essential Skills
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, such as Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering.

  • At least 2 years of experience in engineering roles involving control systems, electrical design, or related disciplines.

  • Hands-on experience with wire harness design, including layout, routing, and integration into mobile or industrial products.

  • Proficiency in schematic design for electrical circuits, including digital and analog systems and PCB-level design.

  • Experience with software programming and software development for control systems.

  • Programming skills in Python, C++, and MATLAB for developing and implementing control algorithms and system logic.

  • Ability to perform electrical design and circuit design, including selection and configuration of components.

  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar tools for creating and managing electrical schematics and layouts.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical, electronic, and software-related issues in control systems.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with AngelScript or similar scripting languages for control or automation applications.

  • Background in both digital and analog circuit design and analysis.

  • Familiarity with PCB design processes and documentation.

  • Exposure to manufacturing environments and an understanding of how control systems integrate with fabrication and assembly operations.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics accurately.

  • Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams on the shop floor and in the office.

  • Detail-oriented approach to design, documentation, and testing of electrical and control systems.

  • Interest in working in an employee-owned, family-oriented environment with a focus on long-term stability and benefits.

Work Environment

This role operates within a modern manufacturing environment that combines hands-on engineering with comfortable office space. The manufacturing floor includes significant welding activity yet remains relatively clean and well-organized. The area is well lit, with skylights that provide natural light and create a bright workspace. The truck assembly area is separated from the fabrication area and is even cleaner and quieter, offering engineers a pleasant space to work while staying close to production activities. Office spaces are updated, clean, and feature high-walled cubicles that provide a quiet environment for design work, programming, and documentation. There is also a dedicated area with a large test board where engineers can troubleshoot and test new control systems and wiring harness designs.
