Job summary

Career-Collective is seeking a licensed Electrical Engineer (P.E.) to lead design initiatives and supervise a team of design professionals on complex projects. You will coordinate with peers, supervisors, vendors, clients, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality trade-specific schematics and layouts.

Under the Trade Design Manager, you will manage all design phases, contribute to construction administration, review shop drawings, perform field observations, and prepare reports.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required.
  • 6+ years as Designer, with at least 2 years in a Senior Designer role.
  • 2+ years leading engineering projects of various sizes and complexities.
  • 2+ years leading engineering teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage project design initiatives for electrical systems.
  • Supervise design professionals to produce schematics and layouts.
  • Communicate with peers, supervisors, vendors, clients and stakeholders.
  • Support construction administration with shop drawing reviews and field observations.
  • Prepare reports and contribute as Job Captain when required.

Description

The Electrical Engineer is a licensed P.E. (Professional Engineer) and senior member of the project team, working under the direct supervision of the Trade Design Manager to lead and manage project design initiatives. This includes supervising a team of Design professionals with a goal to complete high-quality trade-specific schematics & layouts based on solid design principles. The Engineer manages all design team project functions, including surveys, calculations, selections & layouts, performs all project phases and is called upon to play a lead role in effectively communicating with peers, supervisors, vendors, consultants, clients & stakeholders. This includes providing leadership support in the construction administration process with the ability to process and review shop drawings, perform field observations, and prepare respective reports. The Engineer is fully capable of assuming the Job Captain function.

Qualifications
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)
  • Minimum 6yrs experience working as a Designer, of which at least 2yrs were spent in a Senior Designer Role, as part of a professional engineering project team, under the direct or indirect supervision of a licensed professional engineer.
  • Minimum 2yrs experience leading engineering projects of various sizes and complexities.
  • Minimum 2yrs experience leading engineering teams of various sizes.
  • 4-year Engineering degree.
  • Great interpersonal skills.
  • Polished communication skills (both verbal & writing).
  • Highly organized and composed under pressure.
  • Must be able to manage strict timelines with multiple projects in order to meet deadlines under high-pressure environment.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word.
  • Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD & REVIT.

Level 4 (Functional Mastery)

  • Can ably recognize even the most complex types of existing systems and apply solutions to the most complex engineering problems.
  • Can independently design complex electrical systems with inherent knowledge, minimal research & direction, and use of company standards & templates.
  • With minimal supervision, can develop intricate electrical room and system designs/layouts and selection of advanced equipment.
  • Ability to write sequence of operations with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced knowledge of codes and standards. Can ably research when required.
  • With minimal supervision, can generate specifications based on company standard templates.
  • Self-sufficient in producing existing conditions surveys and due diligence reports including cost estimates.
  • Educates L3 engineers.
