Job summary

Silgan Containers is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support manufacturing operations by developing, debugging, and optimizing automated production equipment and industrial control systems. This role emphasizes PLC programming, electrical controls, and process improvement to boost equipment performance and product quality.

You will mentor plant electricians and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve inline problems, develop new production lines, and enhance line efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of electrical experience in manufacturing.
• 2+ years of PLC-based controls experience (Allen-Bradley and Siemens).
• Experience troubleshooting electrical controls, servos, and drives.
• Proficient in MS Office and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Mentor plant electricians and maintenance staff on rapid debugging to protect quality and throughput.
• Develop and debug new production equipment and lines.
• Assist plants and vendors in identifying mechanical problems to improve line efficiency and safety.
• Interface with Plant, Project Engineering, Equipment, and Manufacturing Engineering groups to complete tasks.
• Travel up to 25-30% to various facilities.

Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support manufacturing operations through the development, troubleshooting, and optimization of automated production equipment and industrial control systems. This role requires expertise in PLC programming, industrial automation, electrical controls, and manufacturing process improvement. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional engineering and operations teams to improve equipment performance, product quality, safety, and production efficiency.

What You'll Do:

• Mentor, train, and assist plant electricians, line mechanics, and plant leadership by educating on how to rapidly debug and diagnose problems with can-making equipment to avoid negative impacts on product quality and throughput
• Develop and debug new products, production equipment, and manufacturing lines
• Assist plants and OEM suppliers/vendors in the identification and debugging of mechanical production problems to improve line efficiencies, increase product quality, increase production capacity, and eliminate repetitive work-related injuries
• Interface with Plant Management, Project Engineering, Equipment Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering groups to accomplish tasks.
• Travel on a regular basis to and from various production facilities and equipment vendors as required

What you need to have:

• A bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering; will consider experience in place of a degree
• 3+ years of electrical experience in a manufacturing environment
• 2+ years of PLC based controls experience programming Allen-Bradley / Siemens PLC's, HMI's, Servo & Inverter drives
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging electrical controls, servos, inverter drives, and PLC platforms, including but not limited to Allen Bradley
• Proficient in MS Suite, AutoCAD skills
• Electrical software experience with RS Logix, Studio 5000, or FTV Studio desired.
• Ability to travel overnight up to 25-30%.
