Job description

We are looking for a seasoned Analog Circuit Design Engineer to provide specialized knowledge in the development of sophisticated linear regulators tailored for nuclear and space-based platforms. Your primary focus will involve enhancing and re-engineering high-stakes analog hardware where radiation resilience, operational reliability, and peak performance are essential. The successful applicant will possess a strong background in the development, assessment, and modification of precision linear regulators that utilize radiation-hardened, MIL-SPEC discrete semiconductors. You should be prepared to join a veteran engineering group, perform rapid assessments of current designs, and deliver high-level technical contributions to complex circuit improvement projects.

Core Responsibilities
  • Direct the optimization and redesign of intricate linear regulator systems to ensure success in mission-critical nuclear and space environments.
  • Act as the primary technical authority for analog design, focusing on precision voltage regulation, stability, and protection circuitry to improve overall system reliability.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations and design work utilizing high-reliability, MIL-SPEC, and radiation-hardened discrete components.
  • Identify performance risks and technical constraints in legacy designs to create robust, compliant solutions that meet rigorous environmental and electrical standards.
  • Execute comprehensive electrical performance assessments, including stability, tolerance, and worst-case circuit analysis (WCCA).
  • Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to overcome complex technical hurdles and ensure all design outputs align with program objectives.
  • Offer expert design guidance and leadership for analog systems operating under extreme temperature and radiation conditions.
  • Quickly evaluate current design architectures to establish priorities and drive immediate, high-impact engineering results.
Required Qualifications
  • Significant professional background in analog circuit design, specifically focusing on complex linear regulator architectures.
  • Proven track record of designing and modifying high-reliability analog systems using discrete semiconductor components.
  • Direct experience applying radiation-hardened components and MIL-SPEC parts within aerospace, nuclear, or similar high-stakes sectors.
  • Deep knowledge of control loops, feedback mechanisms, transient response, and precision references to ensure system stability.
  • Demonstrated capability to analyze legacy hardware, uncover root causes of failure, and implement defensible, practical redesigns.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make sound technical decisions to immediately support complex project goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to document design rationale and present technical tradeoffs to leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep understanding of radiation effects, including single event effects and total ionizing dose considerations for component selection.
  • Experience contributing to mission-critical hardware programs, such as strategic defense or spaceflight systems.
  • Proficiency in performing detailed design verification, tolerance analysis, and worst-case circuit analysis for high-reliability electronics.
  • Familiarity with aerospace and military design constraints, qualification standards, and component specifications.
Project Context

This role is vital to an ongoing engineering initiative focused on the redesign of complex analog circuitry for strategic hardware. We are seeking an established expert capable of immediate engagement and rapid delivery of practical design solutions. Please note that candidates lacking substantial hands-on experience in complex linear regulator design and high-reliability discrete implementations will not be a fit for this specific requirement.

Additional Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must possess an active Secret clearance and demonstrate at least 9 years of hands-on experience with electrical parts stress analysis, radiation testing, and worst-case circuit analysis.
