Job description

Electrical Engineer – Jacksonville, Florida

Garver’s growing Aviation team seeks an Electrical Engineer to support facility, building, and airport design, construction, and project administration across multiple clients. The engineer will collaborate with our electrical team on projects ranging from infrastructure upgrades to airport airside electrical systems, EV charging stations, and roadway lighting.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed design and specification documents, including one-line diagrams, power plans, system modeling, lighting plans, and required calculations under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
• Coordinate with other disciplines, regional offices, regulatory agencies, perform cost estimating and quality assurance.
• Assist the Electrical Team Leader in scheduling, managing multiple assignments, monitoring budgets, and ensuring delivery of quality work products that meet Garver standards.
• Oversee junior engineers assigned to projects.
• Attend training and support classes/seminars to develop new skillsets in electrical design.
• Travel regionally (10‑15% of time) for site assessment and construction support; occasional overnight stays may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering.
• PE in Florida.
• Experience with design software packages such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Civil 3D.
• Technical skills to safely work with electrical testing equipment.
• A career goal to obtain PE registration in additional states within 3 years.
• Passion for electrical, aviation, and other special system projects.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to present designs and technical information to coworkers and clients in front of groups.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Individually motivated with strong self‑accountability.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Skills

• Current PE registration in additional Garver states of practice.
• Experience with power modeling packages such as SKM and EasyPower.
