Job description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Electrical Group Lead, the Electrical Engineer will coordinate, develop, and produce deliverables to support electrical design for federal building projects, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness. The role is within the Federal Buildings Group, majority industrial projects, and follows IBC, ABA, and government requirements.

The position is a hybrid role requiring office attendance at least two days per week in the Irvine office.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare drawings and specifications detailing the electrical system designed.
  • Prepare inspection and design reports and presentation materials.
  • Support studio culture through mentoring, design development, and other in‑person activities.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings and document discussions.
  • Perform routine tasks under general supervision using well‑defined standards, procedures, and codes.
  • Travel to project sites or client offices as needed to meet contract requirements.
  • Represent Jacobs, with internal and external personnel, on significant matters.
  • Coordinate design with architects and other engineering disciplines.
  • Perform product research; assist project designers and architects with materials selection and system research.
Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) is required.
  • 5+ years of electrical design experience.
  • Understanding of IBC and accessibility codes.
  • Working knowledge of electrical building systems.
  • Basic knowledge of sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines.
  • Self‑motivated, able to work collaboratively and independently in studio or remote environments.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and communicate technical ideas in person and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or on track (EIT preferred).
  • Industry experience in industrial, aerospace, airport, laboratory, or federal design preferred.
  • Experience in lighting design, lightning protection, security, and fire alarm system design preferred.
Benefits & Compensation

Base salary range: $97,700.00 – $171,000.00, based on location and experience.
