Job summary

Garver is seeking a mid-to-senior Electrical Engineer for its Water Design Center in Fayetteville, AR. You will lead design efforts for water and wastewater facilities, coordinate with control engineers, and mentor project teams.

Responsibilities include creating diagrams and plans, performing power studies, and coordinating with vendors and regional offices. A PE license and ABET‑accredited degree are required, with 6+ years of experience.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in electrical engineering from ABET‑accredited program.
  • Six or more years of direct design experience in electrical systems.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Strong competence in power distribution and standby power systems.
  • Experience designing electrical concepts for industrial facilities and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed designs for water/wastewater electrical power distribution, standby generation, motor starting and lighting.
  • Coordinate with instrumentation/control engineers and other disciplines.
  • Create one-line diagrams, power plans, grounding and lighting plans for industrial facilities.
  • Coordinate with electrical equipment vendors.
  • Prepare design calculations, estimate construction costs, and ensure QA/QC.

Electrical Engineer • Fayetteville, Arkansas

Garver is looking for a mid‑to‑senior‑level Electrical Engineer for its Water Design Center location in Fayetteville, AR. The engineer will support projects in Garver's water business line, engaging in design, client interaction, mentorship, project management, and marketing initiatives. This role is central to high‑volume, custom plant projects, offering hands‑on design and active client involvement.

Responsibilities

Day‑to‑day responsibilities include:

  • Developing detailed designs for water and wastewater treatment electrical power distribution, standby power generation, motor starting, and lighting systems.
  • Working closely with instrumentation and control engineers and other disciplines to coordinate project requirements.
  • Creating one‑line diagrams, power plans, grounding and lightning protection plans, and lighting plans for industrial facilities.
  • Coordinating with electrical equipment vendors.
  • Preparing design calculations, coordinating with support disciplines, regional Garver offices, and regulatory agencies; estimating construction costs and ensuring quality assurance and control.
  • Coordinating schedules, monitoring project budgets, and delivering quality products that adhere to Garver standardization.

In addition, the Electrical Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Developing details and specifications.
  • Performing power‑system studies.
  • Coordinating schedules and monitoring budgets.
  • Ensuring compliance with quality programs and Garver standardization.
  • Developing electrical design standards, tools, procurement, and training.
  • Assessing industrial electrical equipment and systems.
  • Providing on‑site advisement to clients for electrical issues and improvements.

Some travel may be required for site assessment and construction support. The role demands close collaboration with project teams, proactive problem resolution, and a positive team attitude that fosters recruitment, development, and productivity.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • Six or more years of direct design experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Technical competence in power distribution and standby power generating systems.
  • Experience overseeing and developing electrical designs for industrial facilities, including detailed plans and specifications for major projects.
  • Field experience in technical electrical problem resolution.
  • Overall understanding of water and wastewater treatment plant systems in a plant‑wide setting.
  • Experience with power‑system studies, including short‑circuit analysis, overcurrent coordination, and arc flash.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and design low and medium voltage power distribution systems.
  • Experience using Bluebeam and Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Understanding of the electrical complexities associated with water and wastewater treatment equipment.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent teaching and coaching skills to onboard new team members.
Preferred Skills
  • Water / Wastewater consulting experience.
  • Working knowledge of power‑system modeling software:
    • SKM PowerTools for Windows
    • EasyPower
  • Use of AutoCAD and/or Revit CAD programs.
  • Experience with instrumentation and controls and SCADA design.
