Job summary

The Opportunity

CACI is looking for a mid-level Electrical Engineer to support the Office of Naval Research (ONR) for the Department of Defense. The role involves Systems Engineering and Rapid Prototyping to deliver state‑of‑the‑art capability for national warfighters.

Responsibilities
  • Design, model, and simulate analog and digital circuits, or modify existing hardware.
  • Develop PCB schematics and layouts using Altium and manage component selection to balance supply chain availability with low‑cost targets.
  • Develop and integrate power electronics, distribution, and control systems for robotics platforms; integrate custom electronics with COTS/GOTS hardware and sensor payloads.
  • Execute the complete in‑house prototyping workflow from design to fabrication, performing hands‑on assembly, soldering, wiring harness construction, and electromechanical integration.
  • Prepare and deliver a level 2 Technical Data Package (TDP) for projects that reach prototype or low‑rate production stages.
  • Create and maintain briefs for prototype devices and prepare and deliver Test Plans for functional, performance, and environmental testing.
  • Validate performance and environmental resilience of rapid prototypes using standard electronic test equipment; conduct root‑cause failure analysis on components and integrated systems.
  • Travel within the Continental United States to support live test events and operational evaluations; provide on‑site technical support, real‑time troubleshooting, and data collection.
  • Coordinate prototype and low‑rate production with external parties tasked with producing units.
  • Provide routine status updates and communicate urgent production issues to management and stakeholders via phone, email or other normal communication methods.
  • Purchase material for the government as needed to support prototype and low‑rate production.
Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a position requiring engineering expertise.
  • Eligibility for a SECRET clearance.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and knowledge of simulation and analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of programming languages commonly used in electrical engineering.
  • Excellent technical writing and data presentation skills.
  • Track record of complex problem‑solving aptitude.
  • Ability to think analytically and independently.
  • Team orientated.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in written form.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.

Desired:

  • 5‑10 years Electrical Engineering experience or other related technical field.
  • Experience producing electrical systems and/or prototypes for projects on IAC MAC task orders.
  • Experience working with IAC MAC customers.
  • Experience in DoD customer relations and electrical engineering.
  • Active minimum Secret clearance.

This position is contingent on funding and may not be filled immediately. The position is representative of similar roles within CACI.

Pay Range

$67,800 - $142,200
