HSB Architects + Engineers is a mid-size architecture and engineering firm located in Cleveland, OH, with projects locally and in all 50 states. We are a passionate team of Architects, Engineers and Designers dedicated to creating innovative solutions while being stewards of our client’s ambitions and resources. Although we still think like a small nimble firm, we are growing steadily to support our clients, now with 45 on staff in our Cleveland, Ohio office.

Description

Design electrical systems for commercial, food service, industrial, and retail buildings. Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team of architects, designers MEP and technology engineers. This candidate is not required to be registered, but HSB encourages professional registrations and contributes toward the cost of testing.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Managing all deliverables throughout the design, build, and close‑out process (bid, level, award, shop drawings, submittals, construction walk‑throughs, reviewing test results, as‑built drawings)
• Analysis of existing client and building systems.
• Ability to compile a written high‑level report on existing systems, code concerns, and recommendations for improvements based on existing conditions and/or proposed space plan for submission to client.
• The candidate must have excellent client interfacing skills, strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with all levels of management.
• The ability to put together coordinated drawing sets (SD’s, DD’s, CD’s) and specification documents inclusive of load calculations, plan layouts, system and equipment sizing and selection, elevations, labelling details, sequences of operation, equipment and component schedules, equipment room layout coordination, isometric drawings, details, project specifications, etc.
• Participate in all aspects lighting & control system commissioning process
• Assist with LEED accreditation requirements
• Ability to travel to job sites and verify existing infrastructure throughout the United States

Qualifications and Credentials

• 6+ years of building electrical design experience (designing, delivering, and supporting clients of multiple sizes)
• Bachelor's degree in a electrical engineering or related engineering field from an ABET accredited program.
• Currently has a professional engineering license in at least one state (preferred but not required)
• Knowledge, interpretation, and application of electrical codes, energy codes, and other applicable regulations
• Member of industry organizations
• Requires the use of Microsoft office programs, AutoCAD and/or Revit.
