Client is an electric utility company and one of the largest investor‑owned electric systems in the United States. It operates a diverse portfolio of power plants, including nuclear, coal, natural gas and renewable energy facilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform onsite field research to ascertain necessary information for single lines and floor plans of electrical devices and building electrical infrastructure
- Document devices such as switchgears, switchboards, panels, disconnects, transformers and other electrical equipment
- Take photographs of electrical devices and building electrical infrastructure
- Assist with scheduling off‑hour and weekend shutdowns to perform work; work may require off‑hour and weekend duties
- Develop single lines and floor plans of electrical infrastructure and electrical devices in buildings
- Perform electrical assessment of buildings and prepare assessment reports, including all necessary pictures and linking assessment to pictures and floor plans
- Conduct life safety, code‑compliant and deficiency assessments; populate tracking files and label equipment with voltage/amp labels, feed‑in labels, etc.
- Trace wiring, determine overloaded circuits and conduits, identify grounding issues and develop panel schedules
- Perform minor electrical upgrades (e.g., adding wire nuts, outlet covers, junction box covers, panel hole covers, breaker covers)
- Input projects into FirstEnergy’s facility database for future project planning
- Maintain OPPM cleanliness and attend meetings as necessary
- Provide single lines in PDF and AutoCAD format; work with FirstEnergy engineers to perform arc flash assessment and apply arc flash labels
- Take responsibility for quality assurance and control of assigned work, including identifying quality requirements, overseeing review and approval of contractor procedures
- Prepare and present status reports for management, including recurring and ad‑hoc reports that address scope, budget, schedule, risks, issues and mitigation strategies
- Communicate goals, priorities and decisions to the Leadership Team
- Partner with operating companies and other business units from conception and planning through construction and turnover, obtaining concurrence from affected departments to support schedules, resources and project plans
- Ensure project close‑out and lessons‑learned reviews are completed
- Participate in audits of completed work to evaluate whether identified objectives and benefits have been realized
