Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a 3-month, onsite project in Boulder County. The role involves designing schematics and PCBs for battery/FW-enabled products, evaluating battery systems, and collaborating with firmware teams to integrate hardware and software.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Altium PCBA design skills and 2+ years’ experience.
  • Familiar with firmware/embedded software development (C/C++).
  • Solid knowledge of serial communication protocols including I2C, SPI, SMBus, CAN, and PWM.
  • Working knowledge of FCC wireless standards and debugging techniques.
  • Knowledge of battery chemistries and charge/discharge properties.
  • Knowledge of DC motor control techniques and circuits.
  • Experience with multiboard, flex, and harness design across a full system.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and lay out schematics and PCBs for products and accessories, including low-power/battery, BLE, Wi‑Fi, and RF.
  • Design and evaluate battery management and rechargeable battery systems, including chemistry, charge/discharge behavior, and safety.
  • Design DC motor drive circuitry for motion control.
  • Altium Expert: schematic entry, library and component management, AVL/alternate-component strategy, and production data pack creation.
  • Work with prototype and production PCB/CCA suppliers and with test/manufacturing technicians to debug and resolve hardware issues.
  • Support the full product development lifecycle—from concept to EVT/DVT, certification, and sustaining engineering—partnering with firmware, mechanical, and industrial design teams.

This is a 3 month project. Full-time with benefits, but expected to be 30 hours per week

As Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for;

  • Architect, design, and lay out schematics and PCBs for products and accessories, including low-power/battery, BLE, Wi-Fi, and RF
  • Design and evaluate battery management and rechargeable battery systems, including battery chemistry, charge/discharge behavior, and safety
  • Design DC motor drive circuitryfor motion control
  • Altium Expert: schematic entry, library and component management, AVL/alternate-component strategy, and production data pack creation
  • Work directly with prototype and production PCB/CCA suppliers, and with test/manufacturing technicians to debug and resolve hardware issues
  • Support the full product development lifecycle — from early concept and feasibility through EVT/DVT, certification, and sustaining engineering — partnering closely with firmware, mechanical, and industrial design teams
Qualifications;
  • Preferred Education: Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree
  • Candidate must be proficient in Altium 2+ years’ experience desired
  • Altium PCBA design skills, including library/component management and Altium 365
  • Prior experience with firmware/embedded software development (C/C++) sufficient to collaborate closely with firmware engineers on hardware/software integration
  • Solid knowledge of serial communication protocols including I2C, SPI, SMBus, CAN, and PWM
  • Working knowledge of FCC wireless standards and debugging techniques, and experience taking consumer products through UL/Demko safety certification
  • Knowledge of battery chemistries and charge/discharge properties
  • Knowledge of DC motor control techniques and circuits
  • Experience with multiboard, flex, and harness design across a full system (not just a single board)

Location: Onsite in Broomfield, CO

Salary Range: $40 - $50/hr
