Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer III is a mid-level engineering role responsible for the design, analysis, implementation, and maintenance of electrical power systems supporting critical infrastructure. This position focuses on AC and DC power systems, including UPS, generators, and telecommunications power, ensuring reliability, safety, and compliance with applicable codes and standards. The engineer will work independently on moderately complex projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, analyze, and maintain AC power distribution systems for critical facilities
  • Support and manage AC UPS systems and backup generators, including testing and maintenance coordination
  • Design and support DC telecommunications power systems, including rectifiers, batteries, and power plants
  • Perform load calculations, short‑circuit analysis, and system reliability assessments
  • Troubleshoot power system issues and provide corrective and preventive solutions
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, and applicable local/state codes
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Support commissioning, testing, and preventive maintenance activities
  • Collaborate with operations, vendors, and project teams to deliver reliable power solutions
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and safety reviews
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians as needed
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 4–10 years of relevant engineering experience
  • EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) license (active or in progress)

Hands‑on experience with:

  • AC power distribution systems
  • AC UPS systems and generators
  • DC telecommunications power systems and battery technologies
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting critical infrastructure (telecom, data centers, utilities)
  • Knowledge of telecom power standards and practices
  • Familiarity with environmental and operational challenges in remote or cold‑weather environments
  • Residency in Anchorage, Wasilla, or Eagle River, Alaska
  • Office and field‑based work as required
  • May include site visits, on‑call support, and occasional travel within Alaska
