Job summary

The Center for Disability Services, through the Health Innovations Incubator & Technology Center, is seeking a hands-on Electrical & Embedded Systems Engineer to design, build, and test innovative healthcare and assistive technology systems.

You will own electronic subsystems from concept through prototyping to final validation, working across hardware and software to translate ideas into functional prototypes in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience in embedded systems development and electronics prototyping.
• Proficiency in Python and/or C/C++ with strong debugging and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded systems using platforms such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and STM32.
• Create, test, and refine custom PCB designs.
• Integrate sensors, actuators, and electronic subsystems into experimental platforms.
• Build Python-based data acquisition and analysis workflows.
• Document designs, processes, and workflows to ensure reproducibility.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering disciplines.
• Own electronic subsystems from concept through prototyping and final validation.

You enjoy building things that have never existed before. You are comfortable working with ambiguity, rapidly learning new technologies, and moving ideas from concept to functional prototype. You take ownership, enjoy solving practical engineering problems, and thrive in multidisciplinary environments. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop embedded systems, integrate sensors, and create scalable prototypes that have real-world impact. You’ll play a key role in developing solutions across healthcare, assistive technology, and experimental engineering projects in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.
