Job summary

HDR is seeking an Electrical EIT/Designer in Montana to contribute to building electrical design for data centers and mission-critical facilities. You will collaborate with owners, review documents, and prepare specifications while coordinating with architectural and other engineering teams.

The role emphasizes ownership culture, project involvement, and opportunities to progress toward professional registration. Relocation or local presence in MT preferred with full-time on-site work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering with Electrical emphasis.
  • Desire to pursue growth opportunities and obtain registration.
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of electrical engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Work directly with owners to develop recommendations.
  • Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines.
  • Write/edit electrical specifications, select equipment and electrical devices.
  • Take on contract administration responsibilities requiring field inspections and conflict resolution.
  • Make decisions on significant design and engineering features as needed.
  • Function as a Project Manager on small and mid-size projects as needed.
  • Supervise Electrical CAD Technicians and coordinate design with architecture and other disciplines.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Electrical EIT/Designer, we'll count on you to:
  • Perform assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of electrical engineering techniques and procedures
  • Work directly with owners to develop recommendations
  • Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines
  • Write/edit electrical specifications, select equipment and electrical devices
  • Take on contract administration responsibilities requiring field inspections and conflict resolution
  • Make decisions on significant design and engineering features as needed
  • Function as a Project Manager on small and mid-size projects as needed, but project management is not the principal focus of position
  • Supervise work of Electrical CAD Technicians and coordinate design of assigned projects with architectural staff and other engineering disciplines as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering consulting firm is strongly preferred.
  • Data center/mission-critical project experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with some or all the following is beneficial: electrical devices and circuits, control schematics, electrical diagrams, electrical systems theory.
  • Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office, and familiarity or willingness to learn electrical design software.
  • Experience with AutoDesk software including Revit and/or AutoCAD.
  • Candidates living near the Boise, Idaho area are preferred.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
  • EIT certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
  • Preference given to local candidates.

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
