Job summary

HDR is seeking an Electrical Engineer EIT/Coordinator to join the Denver, Colorado office and support the industrial and commercial facilities team. You will perform electrical design and detailed calculations under mentorship, preparing diagrams, schedules, and specifications for healthcare, higher education, data centers, and other facilities.

You will gain experience across electrical systems, instrumentation/controls, and commissioning while collaborating with a wide range of engineering

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical engineering and design assignments under guidance of senior staff electrical engineers.
  • Prepare electrical diagrams, cable and panel schedules, electrical site plans, facility electrical power and lighting plans, schematic control diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Conduct field investigations, condition assessments, and startup/commissioning assistance for new and modified systems.
  • Participate in engineering work for major projects or multiple smaller complex projects within the discipline.

HDR is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer EIT/Coordinator to work as an integral part of the industrial and commercial facilities team in our Denver, Colorado office. The primary role of the Electrical Engineer EIT/Coordinator is to perform electrical engineering and design assignments under the guidance and mentorship of senior staff electrical engineers. Project assignments may include healthcare, higher education, renewable energy systems, water/wastewater, mining, oil & gas, data center/mission-critical, industrial, and institutional campus facilities. Detailed electrical design is the primary focus of this position, with cross-training in Instrumentation & Controls/Automation.

This position includes support for new and retrofit electrical and instrumentation & control systems including preparation of electrical diagrams, cable and panel schedules, electrical site plans, facility electrical power and lighting plans, schematic control diagrams, and electrical equipment and materials specifications.

The EIT/Coordinator will be involved in performing detailed system calculations, drawing production, project specification editing, and will perform assignments using standard engineering techniques and procedures. The EIT may conduct field investigations and condition assessments, make construction observations, and assist in startup and commissioning of new and modified systems.

The EIT/Coordinator will participate in portions of the engineering work for a major project, or several smaller but complex projects within the specific discipline.

Project assignments are expected to be primarily in the Colorado/Rocky Mountain area, although assignment to projects located in other geographies is possible. Occasional short-term travel (typically 1-5 days) is necessary. Longer term (several weeks) assignments may be required infrequently on project assignments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering consulting firm is strongly preferred.
  • Healthcare or higher education project experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with some or all the following is beneficial: electrical devices and circuits, control schematics, electrical diagrams, electrical systems theory.
  • Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office, and familiarity or willingness to learn electrical design software.
  • Candidates living near the Denver, Colorado area are preferred.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
  • EIT certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
  • Preference given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • Desire to pursue growth opportunities and obtain registration
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power
