Job description

Job Title: Electrical Drafter

Job Description

This role focuses on electrical BIM modeling and drafting using Revit to support the design, coordination, and delivery of building projects. You will develop and maintain detailed electrical models, participate in multidisciplinary BIM coordination, and prepare construction and field documentation. The position is ideal for someone with strong Revit skills, experience in Navisworks, and a solid understanding of electrical systems who wants to grow into full electrical design responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain detailed electrical models in Revit, including lighting, power, devices, panels, transformers, feeders, cable tray, and conduit.
  • Set up electrical circuiting, panel schedules, and load calculations within Revit to support accurate design and documentation.
  • Produce complete construction document sets, including plans, riser diagrams, one-line diagrams, details, and schedules.
  • Maintain and update Revit families, view templates, project templates, and shared parameters to ensure consistency and quality across projects.
  • Keep electrical models and drawings current with requests for information (RFIs), architects supplemental instructions (ASIs), and bulletins.
  • Collect and federate NWC models from all trades in Navisworks Manage and verify that they align correctly on shared coordinates.
  • Maintain federated NWF/NWD Navisworks files, including selection sets, search sets, and appearance profiles for efficient coordination.
  • Set up and run Clash Detective tests by trade in Navisworks, applying appropriate tolerances and rules to minimize false positives.
  • Group clashes, assign ownership, and track clash status through resolution, ensuring timely coordination across disciplines.
  • Publish clear clash reports with viewpoints and markups to communicate issues and resolutions to project stakeholders.
  • Resolve electrical clashes directly within the Revit model based on coordination findings from Navisworks.
  • Perform model quality assurance checks before exports, including reviewing warnings, identifying orphaned elements, correcting circuiting errors, and verifying required parameters.
  • Export quantities and schedules from Revit to Excel and Accubid to support estimating and preconstruction efforts.
  • Publish PDF drawing sets for use in Bluebeam Revu, enabling markup, review, and field use.
  • Produce field‑ready deliverables such as layout drawings, rack and spool details, and point‑layout data to support installation teams.
  • Use and help maintain pyRevit automation tools to improve efficiency and standardization in modeling and documentation workflows.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, contributing BIM expertise and electrical knowledge during design and coordination.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset by actively developing skills toward performing full electrical design on projects.
Essential Skills
  • 35 years of general electrical design knowledge, which may include a combination of design or field experience on commercial or industrial projects.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, including building power distribution, lighting, low‑voltage and data cabling, and related infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit for electrical modeling and documentation, with a solid base of general Revit skills.
  • Experience with BIM coordination processes and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Ability to work with Navisworks Manage for model federation, clash detection, and coordination reporting.
  • Capability to produce detailed construction documents such as plans, risers, one‑lines, details, and schedules.
  • Competence in maintaining Revit content, including families, templates, and shared parameters.
  • Attention to detail and strong quality assurance skills for identifying and resolving model issues and errors.
  • Growth‑oriented attitude with a desire to expand responsibilities into full electrical design work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Familiarity with design/build project delivery methods.
  • Experience using AutoCAD for drafting and design support.
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu for PDF review and markup.
  • Ability to work with Excel for exporting and managing quantities and schedules.
  • Exposure to pyRevit or Dynamo for Revit automation and customization.
  • Experience with specialized electrical BIM tools such as Evolve Electrical and Design Master (electroBIM).
  • Familiarity with Augmenta or similar AI‑based conduit modeling tools.
  • Comfort working in construction and BIM environments, supporting both office and field deliverables.
Work Environment

You will work on‑site in an office setting with your own dedicated cubicle within a cluster of BIM team workstations and nearby offices. The BIM team is co‑located, fostering close collaboration and easy communication. Work hours are flexible within a general window of arriving between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and working an eight‑hour day.
