We support the Utility, Energy, and Oil & Gas sectors across the United States, delivering expertise that ensures the successful execution of projects and the maintenance of vital infrastructure. Our consulting practice connects industry‑leading experts with clients to drive transformational results in supply chain and logistics operations.

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Distribution Inspector to join our consulting practice. In this critical field‑based role, you will be the primary quality assurance presence on active electrical distribution construction sites, ensuring all work meets engineering specifications, utility standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. You will work alongside construction crews, project managers, and client representatives to maintain the highest standards of safety and compliance — and you will have every opportunity to grow with us as we expand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough quality inspections at electrical distribution construction sites, verifying compliance with engineering plans, project specifications, and applicable codes (NESC, NEC, IEEE, and utility standards).
  • Monitor and document contractor performance against approved work plans and safety protocols, ensuring all personnel are properly trained and certified before work begins.
  • Oversee overhead line construction, including pole installation, conductor stringing, guy wire tensioning, and hardware installation, verifying all work meets utility specifications and clearance requirements.
  • Inspect underground electrical distribution installations, including conduit placement, cable pulling, splice and termination work, and vault/manhole construction for compliance with project plans.
  • Witness and document transformer installations, pad‑mounted equipment placement, and switchgear commissioning, verifying proper grounding, phasing, and load testing procedures.
  • Inspect substation construction activities, including foundations, steel erection, bus work, and control wiring, confirming work is performed in accordance with approved drawings and safety protocols.
  • Oversee trenching and excavation operations for underground systems, confirming depth of cover, bedding materials, and backfill procedures meet project specifications.
  • Witness and document high‑potential (hi‑pot) testing, insulation resistance testing, and continuity verification of new electrical installations prior to energization.
  • Collect accurate as‑built location data using handheld GNSS equipment and compile complete, auditable project records including daily inspection reports, non‑conformance reports (NCRs), and photographic documentation.
  • Collaborate with construction teams and client representatives to communicate inspection findings and resolve quality issues promptly without compromising safety or schedule.
  • Review schematics, one‑line diagrams, contracts, and specifications to ensure accurate interpretation and application during field inspections.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in electrical distribution construction, operations, or inspection.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in overhead and underground distribution systems, including conductor installation, transformer placement, switching equipment, and grounding systems.
  • Working knowledge of NESC, NEC, IEEE standards, and OSHA electrical safety regulations.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply electrical engineering drawings, one‑line diagrams, schematics, and construction contracts in a field environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy in inspection documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license.
  • NICET certification in Electrical Power Testing or related discipline.
  • OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Safety certification.
  • Experience with utility SCADA systems and automated switching equipment.
  • Familiarity with state and local utility commission requirements in addition to federal regulations.

This is a full‑time, in‑person field position with work based in Fernandina and Marianna, FL. Standard shifts are 10 hours, with availability for nights and weekends as project needs require. Candidates must be able to commute to or relocate to the Fernandina or Marianna, FL areas prior to their start date. Work is performed outdoors on active construction sites.
