Job summary

Addison Group is seeking an Electrical Distribution Designer in Texas to design and oversee electrical distribution systems for both overhead and underground facilities. You will interact with property owners, engineering firms, and construction teams, ensuring accurate designs and adherence to safety standards.

Ideal candidates have a degree or relevant experience and can mentor colleagues while staying current with evolving design methodologies and technologies in electric power.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or certificate in Electric Power Technology or 3 years of distribution design experience.
• Knowledge of overhead and underground electric distribution facilities.
• Experience with distribution design calculations and industry tools.
• Familiarity with 4kV–35kV design standards.

Responsibilities

• Represent the designer professionally when meeting with property owners, other engineering firms and construction resources.
• Stay current with technologies, work planning, and design methodologies in Electric Distribution Design.
• Mentor and/or train staff to transfer design knowledge.
• Design and interpret both overhead and underground distribution facilities.
• Recognize framing and components from 4kV through 35kV to initiate designs for construction or reconstruction.
• Perform distribution line design calculations for structure loading, guying, geometry, sag, framing design, and construction safety.

Job description

Role: Electrical Distribution Designer

Salary: $100,000 - $140,000 / year

Location: Houston, San Antonio, Fort Worth, Texas

Required Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Ability to represent self professionally while meeting with property owners, other engineering firms and construction resources.


• Ability to stay abreast with the changing technologies, work planning, and design methodologies associated with Electric Distribution Design.


• Ability to mentor and/or train others staff members to transfer personal design knowledge to others.


• Proficient with the design of both overhead and underground electric distribution facilities.


• Ability to recognize electric distribution framing and components 4kV through 35kV, to initiate designs for construction or reconstruction of both overhead and underground distribution facilities.


• Ability to perform distribution line design calculations for structure loading, guying, geometric angle calculations, conductor sag interpretation, unitized framing design, construction practices and construction safety guidelines using industry tools and methods.

Desired Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Prefer an Associate’s degree or certificate in Electric Power Technology and/or three (3) years’ prior experience with electric distribution design and estimation.


• Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.


• Experience in joint construction and electric utility best practices.
