Job summary

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors is seeking a Junior CAD designer/drafting assistant in Mobile, AL. You will perform routine designs under supervision and support engineers with drawings, calculations, and specifications.

Enrollment in an Associate degree program in design and drafting with a 2.7+ GPA is required. The role emphasizes familiarity with CAD tools (AutoCAD/MicroStation), design standards, and strong communication skills while offering competitive benefits such as health insurance

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an Associate degree program for design and drafting with GPA 2.7 or above.
• Familiarity with design standards and codes.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation).

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: Generally responsible for performing routine designs of less complex engineering assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. This work will be performed under direct supervision.

Primary Responsibilities Will Include But Not Be Limited To

• Familiarity with and utilization of department design and drafting standards.
• Assisting in developing conceptual layouts and studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving engineering tasks.
• Assisting in producing estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs.
• Assisting in producing detail design calculations, spreadsheets, reports, drawings, and sketches for various projects.
• Assisting engineers and designers in resolving routine layout and detailing problems.

Ideal Background

Education: Enrollment in an Associate degree program for design and drafting. GPA: 2.7 or above

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Familiarity with design standards and codes.
• Working knowledge of CAD software, either AutoCAD, Microstation or both.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. - Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
