Job summary

Stewart & Stevenson is seeking an Electrical Designer II in Houston, TX to create and revise electrical drawings and BOMs using AutoCAD and SW Electrical. You will develop 2D/3D layouts for low/medium voltage systems and drive engineering changes in a production and field environment.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines while working independently or with a team. Proficiency in CAD tools and data management software is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with 2–6 years related experience; Associate degree is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in reading, interpreting and drafting electrical drawings using CAD tools.
  • Experience with ASME Y14.5M standards and data management software (PDM/Autodesk Vault).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines while collaborating with engineers.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and effective communication across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, create, and revise electrical drawings, BOMs, parts, and reports.
  • Develop layouts of new electrical design concepts using CAD tools.
  • Create 3D models of electrical components and assemblies.
  • Produce complex 2D schematics, wiring diagrams, harnesses and installation drawings.
  • Prepare Engineering Change Requests/Orders and revise drawings per processes.
  • Collaborate with production and field personnel to resolve fit-up issues.
  • Review and check work of other designers for accuracy.

Job description

Stewart & Stevenson is Now Hiring an Electrical Designer II located at 10750 Telge Road Houston, TX 77095.

Responsible for creating and revising drawings and parts utilizing AutoCad and Solid Works Electrical in 2D and 3D formats for new and/or improved designs consisting electrical low/medium voltage power equipment, engine driven rotating machinery, AC/DC drive and control systems, and other duties within production assembly and field installation environments.

Responsibilities
  • Works independently with direction from other designers and engineers in reading, interpreting, creating, and revising electrical drawings, bills of materials, parts, and computer-generated reports.
  • Works independently with direction from other designers and engineers in u tilizing design and drafting software to develop layouts of new electrical design concepts.
  • Works independently with direction from other designers and engineers in d rawing electrical components and assemblies in three-dimensional models.
  • Works independently with direction from other designers and engineers during creation of complex two-dimensional electrical component drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, wiring tables, and harnesses.
  • Works independently with direction from other designers and engineers in the c reation of advanced two-dimensional electrical assembly and installation drawings from models.
  • Works independently with direction from other designers and engineers in c reating Engineering Change Requests and Engineering Change Orders by revising 2D and 3D drawings and bill of materials including creating new parts in accordance with company processes.
  • Works independently with direction from other designers and engineers during the i nterface with production and field personnel to investigate issues with fit up and other matters.
  • Possess the ability to check / review the work of other designers.

  • Must have first-hand working knowledge with drafting tools or CAD and applicable software (SW Electrical and / or AutoCAD).
  • Must have intermediate to advanced level, working knowledge with applicable Data Management software (Enterprise PDM and / or Autodesk Vault).
  • Experience with ASME Y14.5M required.
  • Must learn and become proficient in the most recent required department and company procedures, software, and systems.
  • Must apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must be able to become familiar and comfortable with reading, understanding, and drawing electrical schematics that meet department standards.
  • Must be able to communicate efficiently and effectively with ease to a cross-functional audience.
  • Must be able to complete and maintain certifications or safety training.
  • Must be able to maintain a valid driver's license and passport.
  • Must possess and demonstrate a positive and can-do attitude.
Competency
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 2-6 years related experience. Associate's degree (two-year technical school or college) strongly preferred.
