Job summary

PTS Advance is seeking an Assistant Electrical Designer to contribute to a diverse telecommunications portfolio. The role focuses on modeling and drafting using Revit and AutoCAD, supporting design calculations and project documentation.

You will collaborate with engineers and project teams to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards, while expanding your BIM expertise in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Drafting Technology or related field with 2+ yrs experience, OR Associate with 3+ yrs.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Excel, and 2D/3D design applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and model telecommunications designs, including inside/outside plant pathways and layouts.
• Create, manage, and maintain 3D Revit models per project standards.
• Prepare engineering drawings using Revit, AutoCAD, and other design software.
• Develop initial designs, refine sketches, and incorporate markups and revisions.
• Support design calculations, component sizing, and technical problem-solving.
• Coordinate BIM models with other disciplines and project teams.
• Maintain model accuracy, data integrity, and organized project documentation.
• Ensure design deliverables meet scope, budget, schedule, and specs.

What You’ll Do:

• Develop and model telecommunications designs, including inside and outside plant pathways, equipment layouts, and structured cabling systems.
• Create, manage, and maintain 3D Revit models in accordance with project requirements and established design standards.
• Prepare engineering drawings using Revit, AutoCAD, and other design software.
• Develop initial designs, refine sketches, and incorporate drawing markups and revisions.
• Support design calculations, component sizing, and technical problem-solving.
• Coordinate telecommunications BIM models with other engineering disciplines and project teams.
• Maintain model accuracy, data integrity, and organized project documentation.
• Ensure design deliverables meet project scope, budget, schedule, and applicable codes and specifications.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in Drafting Technology or a related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience; OR
• Associate degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience; OR
• High school diploma or equivalent with at least 4 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Excel, and 2D/3D design applications.
• Autodesk Revit experience strongly preferred.
• Basic knowledge of telecommunications systems, design principles, and calculations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, designers, and multidisciplinary teams.
