Job description

Job Title: Electrical Design Data SpecialistJob Description

Responsibilities
  • Define and document data protocol guidelines by authoring technical requirements and annotation standards that capture electrical engineering intent, connectivity constraints, and design rationale for AI training.
  • Serve as the domain expert for how electrical design information should be represented in structured data formats to support engineering automation and analytics.
  • Review and audit incoming electrical and electronic (E/E) design data, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness designs, component libraries, netlists, and electrical network models from tools such as Siemens Capital, ePlan, Zuken, and related platforms.
  • Verify that E/E design data accurately reflects real-world engineering intent, including connectivity, component relationships, and system-level behavior.
  • Track and document design changes across multiple versions of electrical schematics, wiring harnesses, network topologies, component selections, and design parameters.
  • Create datasets that clearly explain the reasons for design modifications, capturing design rationale and lifecycle evolution.
  • Use E/E design tool APIs and scripting languages such as Python to generate variations of electrical schematics, wiring harnesses, network topologies, component configurations, and electrical design scenarios.
  • Augment training datasets with synthetic and derived data to support machine learning, AI-driven design tools, and advanced engineering analysis.
  • Collaborate with engineers and data specialists to align data standards, improve data quality, and support design automation initiatives.
  • Contribute electrical engineering expertise to initiatives involving AI, simulation, and data-driven engineering workflows.
Essential Skills
  • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of hands‑on experience with electrical and electronic (E/E) design, including electrical schematics, wiring harnesses, connectors, electrical networks, layouts, or electrical system architecture.
  • Strong understanding of electrical design fundamentals, including functional and physical design, circuit connectivity, power and signal distribution, grounding, shielding, and protection concepts.
  • Expertise in wire and cable selection, connector systems, and design‑for‑manufacturing considerations for electrical systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with E/E design software such as Siemens Capital, ePlan, Zuken, or comparable electrical design and harness engineering tools.
  • Proficiency in Python or a comparable scripting language to automate design tasks, validate engineering data, or generate design variations.
  • Ability to interpret and work with electrical layouts, power grid diagrams, and simulation data in support of engineering analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Knowledge and expertise in power grids and electrical networks, including network topology, load flow concepts, protection and distribution systems, grounding, power quality, and electrical system constraints.
  • Knowledge of electronics design at the PCB level, including schematic capture, component selection, signal integrity, power integrity, PCB layout considerations, and electronic hardware interfaces.
  • Familiarity with engineering design ontologies, knowledge representations, or structured reasoning frameworks for electrical and electronic design rationale.
  • Familiarity with Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), functional safety, electrical safety, and safety assurance modeling.
