Job summary

Fluor Corporation in Houston is seeking a senior engineering/design leadership role to supervise project designers and drive cost-effective design execution. You will develop schedules, forecasts, and material analyses, while reviewing specifications and coordinating procurement and subcontracts.

The role requires extensive experience, effective communication with diverse stakeholders, and strong project control capabilities to deliver complex designs on time.

Qualifications

  • Accredited two-year degree or global equivalent in applicable field and twenty years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twenty-two years if non-degreed
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences including management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Attention to detail and time-conscious work
  • Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials
  • Practical field experience
  • Intermediate computer and software skills (word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet, and presentations)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide guidance to project designers
  • Develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of discipline design work
  • Develop estimates and schedules, staffing requirements, progress reports, including workforce forecasts
  • Establish, track, and monitor material quantities; provide analysis and forecasts
  • Develop and review specifications, including design criteria
  • Participate in equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting
  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Description
  • Supervise and provide guidance/assistance to project designers

  • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned
Basic Job Requirements
  • Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and twenty (20) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twenty-two (22) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials
  • Practical field experience
  • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
