Job summary

Centrus Energy Corp. is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to design and commission motor control centers, switchboards, and panelboards for facility power systems, working with senior engineers.

You will perform load checks and basic electrical calculations using ETAP or EasyPower, develop wiring diagrams and BOMs, and help ensure safety, UL 508A compliance, and regulatory readiness. Bachelor’s degree and Q clearance preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on experience as electrical technician or junior designer.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; ability to obtain Q clearance.
• Familiarity with CAD tools and ETAP/EasyPower preferred.
• Experience with low-voltage distribution under 1000 V.

Responsibilities

• Design & Layout: support MCCs, switchboards, and panelboards for facility power systems.
• Documentation & Schematics: create/update single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, BOMs.
• Equipment Selection: assist in selecting contactors, drives, transformers, UPS, grounding components.
• Engineering Analysis: perform load checks, short-circuit inputs, basic calculations with ETAP/EasyPower.
• Protection & Control: help set protective relays and interlock logic for LV/MV systems.
• Compliance & Testing: ensure UL 508A, witness FAT, support field commissioning.
• Safety & Standards: participate in hazard analyses and audits; follow site procedures.
• Reporting: produce technical reports and project updates for stakeholders.
• Adaptability: perform related tasks to support project success.
