Job summary

American Cast Iron Pipe Company in Birmingham, AL seeks a Design Engineer to develop new and alternative designs for plant equipment and systems, translating concepts into detailed drawings, specs, and BOMs while coordinating equipment purchases.

You will provide technical guidance to operating departments, train coworkers, and support startup and maintenance activities, with both office and plant-based work in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET EAC accredited program.
• Ability to learn and adapt to new design challenges.
• Proficiency in CAD/drafting and reading technical specifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering designs by understanding project goals and defining equipment requirements.
• Coordinate projects from conception through justification verification to meet goals.
• Train co-workers in the design process.
• Communicate designs to users via drawings, papers, and reports.
• Specify and procure equipment and materials from outside vendors.
