Job description

Application close date: Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed. At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin’s vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth. Blue Origin is self‑f funding rapid development of multiple in‑space flight systems – over a range of sizes, propellant types, and technical challenge. This position resides within the Avionics & Control Products (ACP) organization, part of the Engine Business Unit. As part of the ACP Test Equipment and Manufacturing Automation team, you will design and deliver avionics ground and test systems supporting engineering development and production. You will work across the “systems engineering V” by defining requirements, architectures, and interfaces, decomposing conceptual systems into hardware and software components, selecting COTS components that meet requirements, designing custom test equipment, and performing integration, test, qualification, and verification of ground and test equipment hardware. You are a systems‑thinker and recognized problem solver. You understand that designing effective test solutions is just as important as designing flight hardware. You have an innate ability to identify anomalous behavior, rapidly determine root cause, and implement corrective action interpedently or in close collaboration with stakeholders. Your understanding of networking and scripting languages enable you to remotely triage systems‑under‑test across the country. Position requires up to 25% travel to rocket engine test sites.

Responsibilities
  • Define requirements, architectures, and interfaces for avionics ground and test equipment
  • Conduct make/buy trades for components of avionics ground and test systems
  • Design avionics ground test equipment composed of COTS and custom‑designed components
  • Support integration and test of avionics hardware, software, instrumentation, and harnessing as a representative of the test equipment hardware team
  • Identify anomalous behavior, rapidly determine root cause, and implement corrective action independently or in close collaboration with stakeholders
  • Validate and verify that avionics ground and test systems are meeting customer expectations and requirements
  • Triage remotely networked systems
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering , or similar
  • 2+ years performing some or all of the following activities: electrical design, systems engineering, electronics integration, system validation and verification, networking, scripting, test equipment design
  • Experience working with data communication protocols
  • Experience designing signal conditioning and analog‑to‑digital solutions for hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) test equipment
  • Demonstrated ability building trusting and effective working relationships that improve team performance, deliver results, and strengthen our culture
  • Strong organizational, analytical skills, and digital skills
  • Demonstrated track record of resourcefulness and success from previous assignments and working with interdisciplinary and multi‑functional teams.
  • Passion for hands on problem solving and Avionics integration
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience across multiple portions of the product life cycle (Development‑Sustainment)
  • Experience in technical execution for complex electronics systems
