AMS Industries, Inc. in Woodridge, IL is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to design detailed electrical plans and wiring diagrams for commercial, industrial, refrigeration, and nuclear projects.

You will create schematics, perform NEC/Chicago code calculations, and coordinate with mechanical, structural, and architectural teams to ensure accurate, code-compliant drawings. The role requires a BS in electrical engineering, 3+ years of experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; PE license preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in commercial electrical construction and design.
• Strong knowledge of the NEC and Chicago Electrical Code.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D/3D, Revit, Bluebeam, SKM PowerTools.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical drawings including schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and single-line diagrams using CAD software.
• Perform electrical calculations for loads, feeder sizing, voltage drop, grounding, and lighting.
• Prepare technical drawings to accurately represent electrical systems.
• Coordinate with other departments to integrate electrical designs with MEP plans.
• Ensure drawings comply with industry standards and codes.
• Conduct project site surveys to assess conditions.

Located in our beautiful Woodridge, IL facility and reporting to the Vice President of Client Services Group. The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and creating detailed electrical plans, layouts, and wiring diagrams based on engineering designs and specifications.

Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed electrical drawings, including schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and single-line diagrams using CAD software.
• Develop electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, feeder sizing, voltage drop, grounding, lighting circuits and controls, facility and electrical service, and power distribution.
• Prepare technical drawings and plans to ensure accurate representation of electrical systems.
• Modify and update existing electrical drawings based on project changes and requirements.
• Work closely with draftsman, project managers, and other team members to gather necessary information and ensure design accuracy.
• Design projects in accordance with building codes, best practices, and project requirement
• Coordinate with other departments to integrate electrical designs with mechanical, structural, and architectural plans.
• Ensure all electrical drawings comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
• Conduct project site surveys to assess existing field conditions and electrical infrastructure.
• Maintain organized records of all electrical drawings and related documentation.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field; Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in commercial electrical construction and design
• Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Chicago Electrical Code
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D, AutoCAD 3D, Revit Modeling, Bluebeam Software, and SKM PowerTools
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong Math Skills.
• Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines while maintaining a focus on quality.
• Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive.
