Applied Engineering, Inc. in Waukesha, WI is seeking a Medium-Voltage Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. You will design and develop medium-voltage electrical systems and produce detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts for production-ready assemblies.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements, while using CAD tools to maintain accurate design documentation and support prototype builds and testing.

Qualifications

• Experience designing medium-voltage electrical systems.
• Proficiency with electrical CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, EPlan).
• Experience creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
• Understanding of power distribution, components, and protection principles.
• Ability to apply electrical codes and regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

ESTIMATED PAY RANGE

• Engineer I: $40.45-$46.52/hour
• Engineer II: $44.14-$50.76/hour
• Engineer III: $47.83-$55.00/hour
• Senior Engineer: $51.51-$59.24/hour

Final compensation is based on experience, skills, and alignment with role expectations. Paid overtime may be available.

Job Summary

As a Medium-Voltage Electrical Design Engineer, you will:

• Design and develop medium-voltage electrical systems, components, and assemblies
• Produce detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings
• Apply engineering principles to support product development, system integration, and manufacturing
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure electrical designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements

• Support prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, and design validation activities
• Provide technical guidance throughout the design lifecycle, including concept development, design reviews, and release to production
• Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and industry best practices
• Contribute to continuous improvement of electrical design processes, tools, and documentation
• Assist with resolving engineering change requests and supporting production or field issues related to electrical design
• Work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners
• Contribute to projects that impact communities in Pewaukee, Brookfield, New Berlin, Sussex, Hartland, Muskego, Menomonee Falls, West Allis, and Wauwatosa and the greater Milwaukee metro

Qualifications

• Experience designing medium-voltage electrical systems
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, EPlan, or similar electrical CAD tools
• Experience creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings
• Understanding of electrical components, power distribution, and system protection principles
• Ability to interpret and apply electrical codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams
• Clear communication skills and strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Familiarity with design validation, testing, and documentation practices
• Experience with medium-voltage equipment such as switchgear, transformers, or power distribution assemblies
• Capable of working independently and as a team member
• Strong work ethic and unwavering integrity
