Job Title: Electrical Design Specialist Sr
Duration: 3+ Months with possibility of extension
Location: Sterling Heights, MI, Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)
Pay Rate: $57.48/hr
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Specialist Sr to perform design and drafting for electrical and mechanical aspects of electrical/electronic equipment. This role involves creating wiring harnesses, schematic diagrams, and CAD drawings, as well as designing chassis and housing for line-replaceable units (LRUs). The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Creo and electrical cabling design for military ground vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and draft electrical/electronic equipment and mechanical components.
- Develop wiring harnesses and cable assemblies, including routing and schematic creation.
- Perform layout drawing and checking of schematic diagrams; convert between wiring and schematic diagrams.
- Design LRU chassis and housing, ensuring proper system packaging.
- Select components such as connectors, accessories, wire, shielding, and terminal lugs.
- Produce schematic diagrams and CAD drawings for submission to customers, operations, and vendors.
- Ensure outputs comply with data management and configuration control standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of Creo Design experience.
- Expertise in CAD drafting/modeling and design techniques.
- Experience designing and routing wiring harnesses/cable assemblies.
- Proficiency with Creo Pro-Cable (minimum 2 years).
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-100, ANSI Y14.5/14.41, and GD&T standards.
- Understanding of Siemens Capital Harness logical data for wire routing.
- Working knowledge of military electrical connector and cabling specifications.
- Ability to create wiring harness schematics using Visio Technical.
- Strong collaboration skills in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Education
- Associate Degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent experience plus 9 years.
- OR Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus 5 years of experience.
- Working knowledge of electrical and electro-mechanical engineering tools is highly desired.
