Job summary

Job Summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. We have an exciting career opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer in the Electrical Engineering Department located in San Diego, CA (Poway, CA). This position is under general supervision with limited review, supporting the design and development of advanced electrical components, equipment, and systems for unmanned air vehicles. Assignments are normally accompanied by general instructions and suggestions, outlining possible approaches, sources, or information.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for analog, digital and power conversion circuit design with appropriate analysis and/or CAD modeling.
  • Responsible for control schemes, analog, digital or software, magnetic and electric machine design and/or specification, EMI design, thermal analysis and packaging.
  • Documentation necessary to support production (i.e., test procedures, records, bill of materials, ICD’s, SCD’s, ECO’s and production support) and training.
  • Required to provide field support as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
