Job summary

Actalent in Plainview, NY is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing aerospace and defense engineering team developing electrical systems and hardware for highly engineered products across the full lifecycle from design to production.

You will own designs through the full lifecycle— from concept and schematics to testing, qualification, and production support—collaborating with mechanical, software, and quality teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 3-5+ years of electrical design experience in aerospace/defense or highly regulated environment.
• Experience with schematic capture, circuit design, and component selection.
• Experience supporting products from concept through testing and production.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems, components, and assemblies based on customer and engineering requirements.
• Create schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Support PCB design, hardware development, and system integration activities.
• Select electronic components and develop electrical architectures.
• Develop and execute qualification, verification, and acceptance test procedures.
• Design and support test fixtures and test equipment.
• Perform hardware testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis.
• Analyze test results and implement design improvements.
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems, software, manufacturing, and quality teams.
• Review customer specifications and translate requirements into electrical designs.
• Support production, field returns, and corrective actions.
• Assist purchasing and manufacturing with component obsolescence and alternate source qualification.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation and technical reports.
• Process ECNs and support configuration management and document control requirements.
• Ensure designs meet customer specifications and industry standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Development

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate has experience designing and testing electronic hardware for aerospace, defense, or other complex engineered products. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plainview, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $53.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
