Job summary

Nordson Industrial Coating Solutions is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to design, develop, test, and support electrical systems and industrial hardware. You will apply strong electrical engineering principles to new products and improvements while supporting cost optimization and design standardization.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and at least 2 years in a manufacturing setting, with hands-on prototyping and experience in C/C++, Linux, and PCB design tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of two years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with electronic circuit schematic capture, simulation tools, and PCB layout software.
• Hands-on prototyping, soldering, SMT components, and through-hole components.
• Working knowledge of AC/DC power electronics and serial communication protocols.
• Experience with C, C++, Linux, and MicroC/OS is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical systems, including analysis, component selection, prototype testing, and troubleshooting.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics, PCB layouts, wiring lists, and bills of materials; Altium preferred.
• Support existing product lines by evaluating performance, resolving technical issues, and improving quality and reliability.
• Ensure electrical designs meet safety, reliability, sustainability, and manufacturability requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement product enhancements addressing customer and business needs.
• Contribute ideas and solutions supporting R&D and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role applies sound electrical engineering principles to new product development and existing product improvements, while supporting cost optimization, design standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical systems, including technical analysis, component selection, prototype testing, and troubleshooting.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics, PCB layouts, wiring lists, and bills of materials; experience with Altium is preferred.
• Support existing product lines by evaluating performance, resolving technical issues, and identifying opportunities to improve quality and reliability.
• Ensure electrical designs meet applicable safety, reliability, sustainability, and manufacturability requirements.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to implement product enhancements that address customer, market, and business needs.
• Contribute technical ideas and solutions that support research, development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment; research and development experience is preferred.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

• Experience with electronic circuit schematic capture, simulation tools, and PCB layout software.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping, soldering, SMT components, and through-hole components.
• Working knowledge of AC/DC power electronics and serial communication protocols.
• Ability to evaluate and select appropriate electrical components, discrete components, and integrated hardware modules.
• Experience with C, C++, Linux, and MicroC/OS is preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.
• Experience with Stage-Gate or similar new product development processes.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and milestones while maintaining a high standard of quality.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve project and business objectives.
