Job summary

OCMI, Inc. is seeking an electrical-focused Cost Estimator to join our Portland/Seattle team, with a Portland preference. You’ll provide detailed take-offs and preliminary pricing for diverse construction projects, reviewing drawings to define scope and cost targets.

Collaborate with the estimating group, vendors, and project teams to develop accurate, QA/QC-driven estimates. Hybrid schedule and strong teamwork are encouraged, with a supportive, community-minded culture.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of cost estimating experience in vertical construction/engineering projects preferred.
  • Electrical cost estimating experience required.
  • Ability to understand and accurately interpret construction documents (drawings, specifications).
  • Proficient user of OST software or similar quantity takeoff software preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or architecture, or 2 years of applicable construction trade experience in lieu of a degree, is preferred.

  • Provide detailed quantity take-off and preliminary pricing for a variety of construction project types.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings to understand the overall project scope.
  • Support development of comprehensive cost estimates/models communicating the client's project and strategic goals.
  • Facilitate document control, file management, and project collaboration.
  • Ensure a quality product is presented to the client by adhering to QA/QC procedures.
  • Actively research, solicit, and develop sources/vendors to compile and maintain the accuracy of cost information.
  • Communicate effectively through clear and concise means appropriate to the project goals.

Compensation: $115,000 -125,000
