Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to design, develop, and support PLC-based control systems and electrical panels for material handling equipment. You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, customers, and vendors to deliver automation solutions from design through implementation.

Responsibilities include selecting PLCs, drafting electrical schematics, BOMs, and production documentation, plus remote support during installation and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Industrial Control Systems or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 6 years in related industry experience.
• Experience with motion control and servo applications.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical control panels using AutoCAD and other design software.
• Develop field component layouts including conveyor layouts based on control system requirements.
• Prepare layout drawings showing motors, sensors, switches, solenoids, and other electrical components.
• Select PLC platforms based on project requirements (I/O, memory, specs).
• Design motor control circuits per UL508A and NEC standards.
• Create BOMs for control panels, operator stations, and field components.
• Provide engineering support during fabrication, assembly, and wiring of control panels.
• Submit engineering packages and drawings to drafting for production.
• Review drawings and BOMs for accuracy and revisions.
• Coordinate project requirements with customers, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Provide remote technical support during installation, startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
