Job summary

BCA Mpac Group in Newburyport, MA is seeking an Electrical & Controls Engineer to design, develop, and implement automation and control systems for food & beverage, life sciences, and manufacturing applications. You will lead FAT/SAT testing, troubleshoot, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust, safe systems.

The role requires strong PLC programming skills (Rockwell), machine vision experience, and a solid understanding of safety standards. Travel ~25% is expected.

Due to rapid growth, we’re looking for an Electrical & Controls Engineer ready to take ownership, solve complex challenges, and play a key role in delivering world‑class automation solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and implement automation and control systems
• Create and document process sequences, IO mapping, and system specifications
• Program and configure:
  • PLCs (ideally Rockwell)
  • HMIs
  • Motion systems (including multi‑axis servo)
  • Robotics with line tracking
  • Machine vision systems (Cognex, Fanuc, Keyence)
• Lead and support FAT & SAT testing, ensuring systems perform flawlessly
• Troubleshoot and optimize control systems for continuous improvement
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders

What You Bring

Essential Skills

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in controls/automation engineering
• Strong PLC programming (preferably Rockwell)
• Experience with machine vision systems
• Solid understanding of safety standards and risk assessments
