Job summary

Smithsgroup2 seeks an Electronic Controls and Maintenance Engineer for a full-time, on-site role in Massachusetts. You will install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain electronic control systems and related hardware in manufacturing environments.

Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing system issues, performing repairs and preventative maintenance, updating control logic or firmware, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in electronics, electrical control systems, PLCs, sensors, and industrial automation.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Experience with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of control panels, instrumentation, and related equipment.
• Knowledge of safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe work practices around electrical equipment.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Mechatronics, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field or 5+ years of experience with the design, fabrication, and commissioning of electro-mechanical equipment in an industrial environment.
• Level 1 or 2 Massachusetts license to perform electrical work.
• A well demonstrated knowledge of all I/O interfacing types (Digital, Analog, Fieldbus, Ethernet, Serial) and the evaluation and selection process for them.

The specialist collaborates with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to support new equipment commissioning, process improvements, and system upgrades. Documentation of work performed, accurate reporting of issues, and adherence to company safety and quality standards are essential aspects of the role.

• Strong foundation in electronics, electrical control systems, PLCs, sensors, and industrial automation.

• Prior experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or product development environment is beneficial.
