Job summary

Ingredion Incorporated in Indianapolis seeks an Electrical Control Technician to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment. You will troubleshoot and maintain motors, sensors, and control circuits, with rotation across three shifts and overtime as needed.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, experience with PLCs/VFDs, medium voltage knowledge, and proficiency with SAP/UKG/Excel. Competitive hourly pay and comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

  • Experience with medium voltage is preferred or required.
  • Experience with PLCs and VFDs is essential.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment assessments and background checks.
  • Must pass physical and drug screening as required by local government.
  • Ability to read labels, schematics, and manuals; English skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Wire, troubleshoot, and verify phase rotation for motors.
  • Troubleshoot standard control circuits and process signals.
  • Install and maintain industrial control hardware and sensors.
  • Replace sacrificial parts on energized/de-energized circuits.
  • Maintain application-specific controllers and field devices.
  • Verify signals between control system and field devices; adjust setpoints.
  • Troubleshoot pneumatic/hydraulic hardware and control valves.
  • Adhere to OSHA and local codes; participate in safety programs.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Work environment

Our Indianapolis plant is a dynamic facility operating 24/7, 365 days a year. You'll be part of a unionized team working rotating shifts across three shifts (8-16 hours). While the work is challenging, it offers opportunities for growth and stability. The plant atmosphere can be demanding, with varying temperatures, noise levels, and potential exposure to heights. Respiratory protection may be required in certain areas and it also may involve encounters with pests. Must be able to move about in the processing areas and be able to do the following: lift and carry 50 pounds, stand and walk for sustained periods; climb stairs and ladders; bend; reach; push; pull and enter tanks.

What you will do
  • Wire, troubleshoot, and perform phase rotation verification for single- and three-phase electric motors.
  • Troubleshoot standard control circuits (24VDC, 120VAC, etc.) and process signals (0-10VDC, 4-20mA, etc.).
  • Install (in-kind), troubleshoot, and maintain industrial and motor control hardware, including sensors, operators, indicators, electro-mechanical relays, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and replace sacrificial parts (fuses, overloads, etc.) on both energized (≤120VAC and ≤24VDC) and de-energized (>120VAC and >24VDC) circuits.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain application‑specific controllers (smart relays, smart timers, process meters, scale controllers, CEMs, etc.).
  • Verify and troubleshoot discrete and analog signals at all points, including and between the control system interface and the field device (valves, instrumentation, etc.).
  • Perform adjustments (span, trim, etc.) and setpoint changes on field devices that do not require the use of a field communicator or other specialty interface.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain pneumatic and electro‑pneumatic hardware and systems used for the control and actuation of control valves and other pneumatically controlled hardware.
  • Understand and comply with all OSHA, state/provincial, and local codes.
  • Participate in plant training and safety programs.
  • Demonstrate safe work habits and proper care for tools and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as required.
What you will bring

  • Must be able to successfully pass a physical and drug screen as applicable by local governmentKnowledge in the installation, maintenance, and repairs of common mechanical systems found in an industrial manufacturing facility that require instrumentation.
  • Ability to read and understand labels, blueprints, schematics, job site maps/directions, instruction manuals and/or written instructions accurately.
  • Read, write, and speak English (required)
  • OSHA certification (desirable)
  • Strong computer skills (UKG, SAP, Excel, Outlook) (desirable)
  • Union background (desirable)
