Aegis Worldwide is partnering with a highly stable, nationally recognized manufacturing organization to recruit a Manufacturing Electrical Controls Specialist for a large, automated facility in Alsip, IL. You will own controls-related issues, troubleshoot PLCs/HMIs/VFDs, and collaborate with production and maintenance to minimize downtime.

The role offers hands-on troubleshooting, PLC programming, and documentation responsibilities in a 3rd shift, Sunday–Thursday schedule with a base salary of

Qualifications

  • 3+ years with Bachelor's degree OR 6+ years with HS diploma/technical cert.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience with PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs.
  • Ability to edit and modify PLC programs.
  • Experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment, preferably process/CPG.
  • Strong communication and independent troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and maintain electrical and controls equipment supporting high-speed production lines.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and servo motors.
  • Edit and modify PLC programs as needed to resolve production issues.
  • Provide controls and electrical training to maintenance technicians to minimize downtime.
  • Develop and maintain electrical and controls system documentation.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot production electrical equipment from various suppliers.
  • Assist with calibration procedures for process instrumentation.
  • Develop routines and SOPs to properly maintain controls assets.
  • Assist the controls engineering group with Line Information Systems installations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Work with maintenance and production teams to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Focus on root-cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions.

Compensation: $77,761–$105,000 + 10% annual target bonus

This is a great opportunity for an electrical/controls professional who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting, PLCs, automation, and working directly with production and maintenance teams. You’ll have significant ownership over controls-related issues and play an important role in minimizing downtime and improving equipment reliability.

What You'll Do:
  • Troubleshoot and maintain electrical and controls equipment supporting high-speed production lines
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and servo motors

What We're Looking For:
  • 3+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree OR 6+ years of specific experience with a high school diploma/technical certification
  • Strong experience troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs
  • Ability to edit and modify PLC programs
  • Experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment
  • Background in food, beverage, packaging, pharmaceutical, chemical, or other CPG/process manufacturing
  • Ability to work independently and make sound troubleshooting decisions
  • Strong communication skills and ability to clearly explain technical issues and solutions
  • Strong sense of urgency when responding to production downtime
Preferred Experience:
  • PLC programming experience
  • Electrical certification, vocational training, or Bachelor's degree
  • Union manufacturing experience
  • Mechanical maintenance experience
  • Experience working with automated/high-speed production equipment
Important Industry Background

The ideal candidate will come from a process or high-speed manufacturing environment, such as:

  • Beverage manufacturing
  • Food manufacturing
  • Packaging
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Chemical manufacturing
  • Other high-speed CPG manufacturing

Candidates coming exclusively from discrete manufacturing environments such as machine building or metal manufacturing may not be the best fit for this opportunity.

Schedule

Sunday–Thursday, 10:30 PM–7:00 AM

Candidates must be comfortable working 3rd shift and having some flexibility to meet additional business needs.

Training: The initial training period will take place on 1st shift, with some flexibility available depending on the candidate's situation.

$77,761–$105,000 base salary + 10% annual target bonus
