Job summary

Gaylor Electric, Inc. seeks a Production Operations leader to drive the Production Innovation Center. You will oversee day-to-day operations, champion safety, quality, and continuous improvement, and partner with plant and corporate leaders to optimize resources and meet project schedules.

Responsibilities include advancing labor efficiency, material flow, and onboarding talent through internships; you will communicate progress to customers and drive best-practice methods across projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial/manufacturing management, business or related field or equivalent experience.
  • LEAN/Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with safety focus.

Job description

Take the lead in driving high-impact manufacturing operations within our Production Innovation Center. This role oversees day-to-day operations while championing a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Lead safety efforts through DBO2 compliance and daily safety engagement while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient production center environment. Own production performance by tracking build progress, managing labor efficiency, and ensuring all work meets design specifications and quality standards.

Plan and coordinate production across multiple build areas while effectively allocating manpower to meet both Innovation Center and job site demands. Support material flow from receiving through staging and delivery, partnering closely with logistics to ensure shipments are safe, secure, and on time.

This role also plays a key part in developing talent by overseeing internship and workforce programs, while driving accountability, strong communication, and continuous improvement across operations.

Position Requirements

  • Work hand-in-hand with plant and corporate leaders to help assess resource requirements.
  • Develop and implement processes that meet all safety and regulatory requirements.

  • Oversight of implementation of any new plant methods or processes.
  • Conduct Monthly plant reviews with corporate.
  • Track monthly financials of the prefabrication center. Takes field calls and assists project supervisors/managers with cost saving prefab ideas.
  • Oversees design, layouts, and ordering of materials to effectively produce products to meet project schedules.
  • Exhibits ability to review and comprehend a set of project documents and drawings to accurately produce construction product.
  • Accountable for on-site management/safety of assigned prefab construction projects and field personnel.
  • Initiates, attends, coordinates, and/or conducts meetings as required to meet the project objectives.
  • Applies general trade knowledge to electrical work both technically and procedurally.
  • Creates and administers consistent method of scheduling, delegation and monitoring.
  • Able to monitor and communicate the overall progress on projects.
  • Works with project teams to best strategize resources and clear obstacles.
  • Oversees employee payroll and time allocation.
  • Creates and implements the best practice for logistical plans on projects.
  • Ensures performance of safety audits.
  • Effectively communicates progress to customer and interprets & fulfills customer requests.
  • Monitors progress of assigned projects as well as monitors subcontractors' estimated and actual status, field personnel alignment, scheduling, and payables and receivable balances in order to facilitate weekly action plans.
  • Manages the selection, development, measurement, motivation, and cooperation of the Prefab staff.
  • Takes disciplinary action toward subordinates consistent with Company policies and procedures.
  • Is a proficient user of the Spectrum computer program for approval of invoices, billed job cost, reports, project history, and review of purchase order history.
  • Leads, motivates, coaches, and develops assigned employees' technical skills by giving accurate and non-biased job performance appraisals.
  • Cultivates working relationships with managers, supervisors, and customer/clients encouraging a cooperative environment.
  • Documents project/work situations, both written and verbally, in an accurate and timely manner to ensure the company a means of protection through proper documentation.
  • Maintains appropriate records, files, documentation, etc.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to work scheduled hours as well as overtime, as required, on short notice

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to wear personnel protective equipment (i.e., hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, high visibility vest, safety harness, etc.) when required
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
  • Possess good vision/hearing (normal or corrected)
  • Ability to work while sitting or standing for long periods
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
Education

High school/college graduate, four-year degree in industrial/manufacturing management, business or related field, or equivalent studies/on-the-job experience, [minimum of five years supervisory experience]. OSHA 30 Hour.

Experience

High level of interpersonal relationship skills, proficiency in communication skills, organizational skills, and highly computer literate (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Spectrum), Six Sigma or LEAN management experience.
