Job summary

Five Star Electric, a Tutor Perini Company, seeks an Assistant Project Manager for our Midtown Bus Terminal project site in New York. You will assist the Project Manager with daily management, planning, scheduling, and maintaining contracts, drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.

The role supports budgeting, cost tracking, procurement, and field coordination, ensuring adherence to safety policies and project requirements. Strong communication and organization are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
• 1-3+ years in construction project coordination or electrical contracting.
• Internship or field experience with an electrical contractor preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
• Experience with Procore or Primavera P6 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager with daily management of electrical construction projects.
• Support project planning, scheduling, and execution activities.
• Maintain project documentation including contracts, drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
• Track project milestones and assist in monitoring schedule performance.
• Coordinate communication between field staff, engineers, subcontractors, and clients.
• Assist with project budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
• Help prepare monthly cost reports and project status updates.
• Review vendor and subcontractor invoices for accuracy and approval.
• Support change order pricing, tracking, and documentation.
• Monitor material and labor costs against project budgets.
• Assist with material procurement and equipment tracking.
• Coordinate delivery schedules to align with project timelines.
• Solicit vendor pricing and prepare purchase orders.
• Maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Review electrical drawings and specifications for completeness.
• Process and track RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings.
• Ensure compliance with contract documents and project requirements.
• Maintain organized electronic and physical project files.
• Coordinate with field supervisors and foremen regarding project progress.
• Participate in project meetings and site walks as required.
• Support adherence to company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
• Assist with resolving field issues impacting schedule or productivity.
• Participate in owner and subcontractor coordination meetings.
• Provide timely updates to project stakeholders.
• Help maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication.
