Job summary

Gentex seeks an Electrical Component Engineer I to support selection, evaluation, and lifecycle management of electronic components for diverse projects. You will work cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure components meet specs, quality standards, and schedules.

You will analyze part performance, coordinate with suppliers, maintain component databases, and support APQP/PPAP processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Familiarity with electronic components, circuit analysis, and simulation tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Support the selection and evaluation of electronic components and suppliers based on project requirements, performance specifications, cost-effectiveness, product roadmaps, and supplier performance.
  • Communicate with suppliers to resolve component-related issues, negotiate terms, and establish reliable supply chains for critical components.
  • Assist with population and maintenance of the component database of part information and support the Advanced Product Quality Planning Production Part Approval Process (APQP PPAP).
  • Work closely with design, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to troubleshoot component issues, support new product introductions, and optimize designs for manufacturability and cost.
  • Support the lifecycle of electronic components by evaluating the impact, identifying potential solutions, planning and executing testing, and holding reviews in support of Product Change Notices (PCN), End of Life (EOL), Value Analysis & Value Engineering (VAVE), and allocation.
  • Learn and stay current with technology, manufacturing, and industry trends to drive continuous improvement of products, process, and methods.
  • Support basic reliability and failure analyses such as MTBF calculation, FTA, FMEA, and DRBFM analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Overview

Electrical Component Engineer I supports the selection, evaluation, and lifecycle management of electronic components for various projects. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure components meet technical specifications, quality standards, and project timelines.

Location

This position requires on-site work at Gentex facilities. This role is not eligible for remote work.

What You'll Do

What to Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • Familiarity with electronic components, circuit analysis, and simulation tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
What will help
  • 1+ years of relevant professional work experience.
  • Working knowledge of relevant industry standards and specifications (e.g., AEC-Q100, IATF 16949).
