Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace is seeking an Electrical CAD Drafter (Engineering Support Specialist II) to design, document, and sustain test equipment across engineering and manufacturing environments in Tempe, AZ on a hybrid schedule.

You will create and update schematics, wiring diagrams, and parts lists for electronic test equipment and cable harnessing, collaborating with engineers, technicians, and procurement to ensure manufacturability and project alignment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on electrical drafting or equivalent training.
  • Experience producing electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Familiarity with industrial wiring standards and harnessing.

Responsibilities

  • Employ CAD tools to develop complete electrical drawing packages for automated test equipment cabinets and test benches.
  • Create wiring schematics, connection diagrams, and harness drawings meeting industry standards.
  • Collaborate with test engineers to select components and layout controllers, power supplies, loads, instrumentation.
  • Assist in cable harness design, connector selection, and routing strategies.
  • Generate accurate parts lists and ensure manufacturability and procurability.
  • Visit labs or production areas to gather details for as-built drawings.
  • Support fabrication teams to resolve design questions and ensure build accuracy.
  • Maintain drawing libraries and configuration control.
  • Assist in identifying alternatives for long lead items.
  • Support design reviews and continuous improvement.

Job description

As an Electrical CAD Drafter (internally Engineering Support Specialist II), you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and sustainment of test equipment used across our engineering and manufacturing environments. With direction from test engineers, you will create and update detailed design documentation including schematics, wiring diagrams, and associated parts lists for electronic test equipment and cable harnessing.

Your work ensures that designs are accurate, manufacturable, procurable, and aligned with project requirements and industry standards. You will collaborate closely with test engineers, technicians, and cross‑functional partners to translate requirements into complete, production‑ready drawing packages. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, organized, and comfortable interacting with both engineering, fabrication, and procurement teams.

You will report to the Test Engineering Manager, and work out of our Tempe, AZ site on a hybrid work schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Employ CAD tools to develop complete electrical drawing packages for:
    • Automated test equipment cabinets
    • Electronic control enclosures
    • Test bench setups
    • Custom cable harness assemblies
  • Create wiring schematics, connection diagrams, and harness drawings that meet industry standards and internal best practices.
  • Work with test equipment engineers to select, size, and lay out components such as controllers, power supplies, loads, instrumentation, switching hardware, and interconnect panels.
  • Assist in cable harness design, connector selection, and routing strategies.
  • Generate accurate and complete parts lists for all designed assemblies, ensuring components are manufacturable and procurable.
  • Visit lab or production areas to gather details from existing equipment to support as‑built drawings.
  • Collaborate with technicians during fabrication to resolve design questions and ensure build accuracy.
  • Maintain documentation libraries and support configuration control of drawing packages.
  • Support identification of alternatives for long lead/unavailable items
  • Support design reviews and incorporate feedback for continuous improvement
Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on experience in electrical drafting/design, or equivalent of education and training.
  • Electrical CAD program experience producing technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics, connection diagrams, harnessing, and industrial wiring standards.
