Job summary

Sportsman Boats is seeking an Electrical Designer to move electrical systems from engineering design to the production floor. You will install, test, troubleshoot, and validate 12V DC and AC systems on center console boats.

Work closely with Engineering and Production to resolve issues, read wiring diagrams, and support CAN bus integration. A hands-on, detail-oriented mindset is essential for success in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of electrical experience in manufacturing, marine, automotive, aerospace, or related industry.
  • Strong 12V DC troubleshooting skills and experience using a multimeter.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Hands-on, problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Install and integrate electrical components, wiring harnesses, and connectors.
  • Troubleshoot 12V DC electrical systems using multimeters and diagnostic tools.
  • Test and validate electrical systems to ensure they work as designed.
  • Support new product development and engineering changes on the production floor.
  • Identify root causes and work with Engineering and Production to implement solutions.
  • Read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings and help keep installation documentation up to date.
  • Support CAN bus integration and diagnostics.

Job description

Sportsman Boats is looking for a hands-on Electrical Designer to help bring our electrical systems from engineering design to the production floor. If you enjoy troubleshooting, solving problems, and working with your hands, this could be a great fit.

You'll work closely with Engineering and Production to install, test, troubleshoot, and validate 12V DC and AC electrical systems on our center console boats.

What You'll Do
  • Install and integrate electrical components, wiring harnesses, and connectors.
  • Troubleshoot 12V DC electrical systems using multimeters and diagnostic tools.
  • Test and validate electrical systems to ensure they work as designed.
  • Support new product development and engineering changes on the production floor.

What We're Looking For
  • Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field. Bachelors degree preferred.
  • 2-5 years of electrical experience in manufacturing, marine, automotive, aerospace, or a related industry.
  • Strong 12V DC troubleshooting skills and experience using a multimeter.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • A hands-on, problem-solving mindset and strong attention to detail.
  • Someone who is curious, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.

Marine experience, CAN bus knowledge, wiring harness experience, experience with Rhino/Solidworks, and familiarity with Yamaha/Mercury systems is a plus!
