Job summary

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking an Electrical CAD Designer to join our team in a flexible work arrangement offering hybrid and remote options. The role focuses on planning, design, and delivery of industrial energy projects across multiple disciplines.

You will create detailed electrical drawings, develop 3D models, and ensure CAD deliverables meet quality and regulatory standards while mentoring junior drafters. Compensation is competitive and based on location and experience.

Qualifications

• A.A.S. degree in electrical drafting/design or related technical field.
• 3+ years of electrical CAD drafting/design experience.
• Proficiency in AutoDesk 3D products and electrical modeling tools.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 2D/3D electrical drawings, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, schematics, and cable/conduit schedules.
• Develop 3D models of electrical equipment and facility layouts.
• Interpret design specs and convert markups into CAD drawings.
• Maintain CAD files and ensure standards and quality.
• Ensure drawings meet codes, standards, and guidelines.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve design conflicts.
• Perform field visits to verify site information for design accuracy.
• Assist with redlines, drawing updates, and document control.
• Review CAD deliverables for accuracy and compliance.
• Mentor junior drafters and lead small drafting teams.

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking an Electrical CAD Designer to join our team!

Work arrangement is flexible: Both hybrid and remote options are available.

Office Locations include: Duluth, MN | Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN | Omaha, NE | Nashville, TN | Pittsburgh, PA | Houston, TX | Travere City, MI or remote.

Join a collaborative team working on impactful design and construction projects across a variety of disciplines. As an Electrical CAD Designer, you’ll play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of industrial energy projects. What You’ll Do:

• Creating and modifying detailed 2D and 3D electrical drawings, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, schematics and cable and conduit schedules.
• Develop 3D models of electrical equipment and facility layouts.
• Interpret electrical design specifications, sketches, and markups from engineers and convert them into CAD drawings.
• Maintain and organize drawing files with strong attention to CAD standards and drafting quality.
• Ensure drawings comply with applicable codes, standards, and company guidelines.
• Coordinate with other disciplines (mechanical, civil, etc.) to resolve design conflicts.
• Perform field visits to verify and gather site information for design accuracy.
• Assist with redlines, drawing updates, and document control processes.
• Check and review CAD deliverables for accuracy and compliance.
• Mentor and guide junior drafters and occasionally lead small drafting teams.

What You Bring:

• A.A.S. Degree in Electrical Drafting & Design or related technical field.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in electrical CAD drafting/design.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoDesk 3D products.
• Skillset in electrical modeling software: Elecdes and/or AutoCAD Plant 3D is a plus.
• Understanding electrical symbols, schematics, PLCs, control systems, panel design, hazardous area, and grounding.
• Solid understanding of construction processes, design documentation, and drafting quality control.
• Strong mathematical skills and the ability to perform design-related calculations.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Willingness to learn, take initiative, and collaborate in a team environment.

Lake Superior Consulting offers a competitive compensation package. The actual starting pay will be determined based on a variety of factors, including your skills, experience, and office/market location. The anticipated range for this position is $29 -$40/hr.
