Job summary

PROENERGY is seeking an Electrical CAD Designer to create, revise, and maintain electrical drawings for industrial power generation equipment. You will collaborate with Electrical Engineers and cross-functional teams to convert concepts into manufacturable designs while ensuring compliance with standards.

The role reports to the Manager, Design & Drafting and is based in Sedalia, MO. Candidates must have a Trade School Diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of electrical CAD experience.

Qualifications

• Trade school diploma or equivalent experience.

• Proficiency with AutoCAD and electrical software.
• Strong ability to read electrical drawings and standards.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, interconnect drawings, and bills of material.
• Develop accurate electrical design documentation using CAD and electrical design software.
• Support engineering and manufacturing teams by ensuring designs are complete, accurate, and manufacturable.
• Review drawings and documentation for quality, consistency, and compliance with customer specifications and applicable standards.
• Collaborate with Electrical Engineers to improve design processes, standardization, turnaround time, and overall drawing quality.
• Resolve drawing discrepancies and design conflicts through coordination with engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Process ECRs/ECRNs and support NCR resolution.
• Participate in project kickoff meetings and design reviews.
• Maintain drawing databases and revision control within PDM/PLM systems.
• Track tasks and deliverables to support project schedules.
• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and external partners.

Position Responsibilities

The Electrical CAD Designer is responsible for creating, maintaining, and revising electrical drawings and documentation that support the design, manufacturing, and installation of industrial power generation equipment. Working closely with Electrical Engineers and cross-functional teams, this position converts engineering concepts into accurate and manufacturable electrical designs while ensuring compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable electrical codes.
This position reports to the Manager, Design & Drafting and is based in Sedalia, Missouri.

Position Responsibilities

• Create and revise electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, interconnect drawings, and bills of material.
• Develop accurate electrical design documentation using CAD and electrical design software.
• Support engineering and manufacturing teams by ensuring designs are complete, accurate, and manufacturable.
• Review drawings and documentation for quality, consistency, and compliance with customer specifications and applicable standards.
• Collaborate with Electrical Engineers to improve design processes, standardization, turnaround time, and overall drawing quality.
• Resolve drawing discrepancies and design conflicts through coordination with engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs/ECRNs) and support the resolution of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
• Participate in project kickoff meetings, design reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain drawing databases and revision control within PDM/PLM systems.
• Track assigned tasks and deliverables to support project schedules and deadlines.
• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and external partners.

Required Qualifications

• Trade School Diploma, Technical Certificate, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical CAD design and drafting.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and electrical drafting software.
• Strong understanding of electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and drafting standards.
• Knowledge of electrical design principles and industry standards.
• Ability to read, interpret, and create technical documentation.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Fluency in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension.
• US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
• Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check

Desired Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology, or a related field.
• Experience with Elecdes Electrical CAD software.
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor 2022 or 2026.
• Experience working in a PDM/PLM environment, preferably Windchill.
• Experience using project management systems such as Asana.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, CSA, and other applicable electrical codes and standards, including the ability to perform code research.
• Experience with industrial control panels, electrical equipment layout, and component selection.
• Hands‑on panel fabrication or wiring experience in shop or field environments.
• Understanding of manufacturing and electrical assembly processes.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
• Experience with electrical design automation, configuration‑managed design environments, and integrated engineering systems

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
• Ability to occasionally access production areas and participate in design reviews on the shop floor.
• Ability to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.
