Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Electrical BIM Designer to design documentation and manage Revit BIM models in coordination with other discipline leads. You will work under electrical leads to produce constructible deliverables using Revit, Navisworks and AutoCAD while aligning with Jacobs and client BIM standards.

Join a collaborative team and contribute to documenting design intent across disciplines, ensuring clash-free 3D models and accurate 2D drawings for projects in data centers and other facilities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of BIM design experience focusing on electrical systems.
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks and Markups with Bluebeam or similar.
  • Ability to follow client BIM standards and develop constructible deliverables.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to learn new tools and processes.

Electrical BIM Designer, you will be engaged in the design documentation while being responsible for the set-up and management of Revit BIM models in coordination with other discipline BIM leads and team members. Working under the direction of electrical discipline or project leads, this position provides an opportunity to showcase your Revit expertise in while staying in accordance with Jacobs and client BIM standards. Using a mixture of the Revit, Navisworks and AutoCAD software platforms you will create and manage content towards fully coordinated 3D models across all design disciplines (C,S,A,M,E,P,T,I,L) as well as creating 2D construction drawings. This is all accomplished in coordination with other designers, discipline leads, architects and engineers who are all on the same Jacobs design team. Using the Jacobs design methods in conjunction with your keen eye for detail and established BIM skills, you will be part of our electrical design team working to turn the design intent of our senior electrical design staff into constructable deliverables including clash-free 3D models.

Here’s what you'll need
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of BIM design experience
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in electrical systems design and the construction industry
  • A growing understanding of how codes and standards shape design decisions
  • A growing understanding of design and construction specifications and their function
  • Basic understanding of wiring/cabling connections in relation to a circuit or a link between devices and equipment
  • Experience following client design and modeling standards
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar markup software
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to estimate hours required for design and modeling efforts based on provided mark-ups and/or verbal direction requests
  • Willingness to learn new things
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • At least 3 years of Revit and/or AutoCAD design experience
  • Understanding of data center environments
  • Knowledge and design experience with power, cable routing, and lighting systems
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and one-line diagrams

The base salary range for this position is $71,000.00 to $90,800.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
